    Big water high wind.

Some points to consider: 1. When cresting a wave, a V-hull will dive deeper into the next wave, thus allowing the water to come up higher on the windshield and sides. The impact in the trough will be softer, because you dive deeper. 2. A flat bottom hull does float more like a cork...

    Navigating in Fog

I guess the two statements above are what confused me. I agree, if you never take a chance on getting caught in the fog or darkness then you don't need radar. However, getting caught in the fog or darkness is a horrible experience in my opinion. I'll keep my radar.

    Navigating in Fog

I don't know Ken, but when I read that paragraph my mind translates it as: "I feel better about going out and playing in traffic as long as I have a blindfold on" Please tell me that this is a bad analogy.

    engines for 25

Jerry The weight of the honda 135-150 hp is 485 lbs. The weight of a honda 200 hp is 600 lbs., and the weight of the yamaha is 583 lbs. We're talking about adding an extra 102-115 lbs here. On a boat the size of the 25', that is nothing. If I were really concerned about adding an extra...

    cooking with wallis

Bill & Chris Obviously your wallas didn't ignite. Somethings wrong. Seeing as how your boat is so new, I'd take it back to the dealer and let him figure it out. It should only take a few minutes for it to get hot.

Welcom home, Terry & Ann Catman, that bus ride was one of a kind. A mandatory stop for boaters in the Gulf Islands. :thup

    engines for 25

I'm guessing that mounting a 200 hp on a 25' would give you about the same horsepower to weight ratio as you would get if you put a 115 hp on a 22'. (ala Red Fox)

Jerry My understanding of a possible broach situation in a c-dory would be caused from to much weight forward, not to much weight on the stern. In following seas we want our weight to the rear.

Gas fumes in cockpit of 25'

Captains Choice No, it is vented to the outside. But like most people, I don't like the smell of raw gas anywhere in my boat and especially when I have an open flame bbq.

Jerry Seems to me that changing prop pitch is just like robbing Peter to pay Paul. I'd like to be able to cruise comfortably on smooth water at 25 mph (without screaming the motor above 5 grand) and have the extra torque for carrying extra passengers. After owning a 19' Alumaweld Stryker...

Gas fumes in cockpit of 25'

History: Some of the early 25's had undervented gas tanks that caused gas to burp out when filling. The factory replaced those with new 107 galon aluminum tanks that were vented on both sides. Problem: The problem is that you can get whiffs of raw gas in the cockpit area at times. This...

    engines for 25

If I had it to do over again, I'd mount a 200 hp motor on my 25'. 1. With all the storage on the 25' it is easy to add more weight. Carrying a few large passengers can also 500 to 1000 lbs of people weight. The additional weight can really make the motor lug down and act sluggish. 2. I...

    07/15 - 07/17 Blakely Island

Vacation 2005 is over, we're home safe and sound. Thanks to all that made this such a fun gathering. Fishing with Robbi, following Fred around and listening to Byrdman was a hoot! After the Blakely gathering we spent the night at Prevost Harbor on Stuart Island with Rock C and Imacunada...
