    Pacific NW Cruise 2013

As others have already mentioned, there is a ton of cruising in the PNW. If I were in your position, I'd probably do a Seattle (or Anacortes, Bellingham, etc...) to Glacier Bay "overview" trip next summer, then figure out a plan for the following seasons depending on which areas you want to...

    2013 C-Brat Calendar

The resolution doesn't need to be all that high really, only about 1600 pixels wide. Any jpeg over about 1 MB will likely be fine. Sam

    2013 C-Brat Calendar

With 2013 rapidly approaching it is time to think about the 2013 C-Brat calendar. If there is sufficient interest I'm happy to make another calendar this year. Same deal as before. Please send high resolution pictures to me (samlandsman@gmail.com) sometime in the next week or so. Please...

    Spot, EPRiB, PLB and SEND

I carry a PLB and a SPOT. I see them as complementary devices. The SPOT is used to keep family and friends posted about where I am. In the event of an emergency, I'd hit the 911 button. I've used it on the C-Dory and while backpacking and hiking around the US and in South America and Africa...

    Video-Mokai cruise Khaz Bay 2012

Jay, I've enjoyed watching your videos. Lots of places to visit next time in Alaska! For anyone thinking that the sun doesn't shine much in Alaska, here's a picture from Tracy Arm on one of the (few) sunny days in SE Alaska last summer. The night before I had anchored next to Jay and JoLee...

If you're up in Anacortes I'm sure we could arrange something. Let me know if you don't find someone closer. Sam

single v.twin engines - unnecsssary anxiety, perhaps

With 845 hours on my Honda 90 on the C-Dory (hopefully just broken in!) I've yet to have the engine fail to start or shut off for any reason other than me turning the key off. Same story with the Yamaha on the Whaler, though only about 500 hours on that engine. I've had overheat alarms go off...

Looking for a ride in a CD22 in the Seattle area Puget Sound

I sent you a PM. If you're willing to travel up to Anacortes we can make something work.

    Starting to look

Several C-Brats regularly post about their Northwest adventures. Check out Jay's postings of his travels in Alaska on Hunky Dory. Or Jim and Joan's experiences this summer living on their 25 while working in Friday Harbor. I wrote a blog this summer about my Inside Passage trip and the link...

Fuel flow and economy - Marinaut 215

A couple more observations on CD22 performance/fuel economy... I tend to use a lot of trim tab deployment to keep the bow down. Normally 65-75% when the boat is loaded heavily (heavy stuff inevitably ends up in the cockpit). The engine (with SST hydrofoil) is also typically trimmed to...

Fuel flow and economy - Marinaut 215

Here are some real world numbers from my trip to Alaska this summer. Honda BF90D, C-Dory 22 Cruiser, no bottom paint. Fairly heavy load most of the time. 1-3 people, food for a few weeks, big ice chest with up to 50 pounds of ice, up to 70 gallons of gas and 8 gallons of diesel, 6hp Tohatsu...

    Sam's Big Adventure

chromer, I hadn't thought about doing an e-book. However, I may have some good news in a similar vein in the coming weeks... ferret30, I just posted the missing days. For whatever reason (probably had to do with painfully slow internet connections and me working faster than I should have)...

    Sam's Big Adventure

Thanks Marty! I'm at our cabin on Decatur Island for a few days. The trip to Alaska was wonderful and I'd love to repeat it...not sure when, though. If anyone is in the San Juan's tonight or tomorrow, shoot me a PM and feel free to stop by Sylvan Cove. Sam

Bow roller for Manson Supreme 15 lb. anchor?

I've got roughly 6 inches between the aft end of my roller and the front of my windlass (Lewmar V700). Hope that helps.

Bow roller for Manson Supreme 15 lb. anchor?

The Manson fits under the bail with space to spare and the tip of the anchor clears the bow easily. Here's a picture:
