Kayak storage on a 22 Cruiser

Jim, Just about ready to order the 1A raingutters and accessories. It seems it will be close to hitting the roof racks that run parallel from bow to stern, but will give it a try. Do you mount the kayak straight on the two perpendicular support bars or did you buy some of the kayak saddle...

Kayak storage on a 22 Cruiser

I am very glad this thread was revived. Lots of great ideas, but with my roof and the flood-light, radar dome and two antennas on top, I think the Yakima is my choice. I also like, as one man said here, the idea of attaching rod holders to it.

    Mola Mola (ocean sunfish)

Saw a Mola-Mola at Ship Rock in Catalina last week-end, is that a common species there? Jeff

Kayak storage on a 22 Cruiser

Jim, Thankyou for the tip. Did you use the 4" riser with it? Or the standard height? Interesting idea, and you say it's stable? Can you please take some photos of the set up and post here or in your album? Thanks, Jeff

    Catalina report

Headed out in the afternoon Friday for Catalina. First mistake; late departure. Though it wasn't too bad, half way over the swells were so close it made the boat ride harder and I had to head further east than desired to take them at an angle. On the way over 40 foot plus yacht radio'd and...

    Cat thru Sunday

After much work on the C Pelican, will "test" it out this week-end at Catalina. Friday thru Sunday. Anyone there or heading that way, if this is not too late of notice, give a yell. Jeff

    Portable GPS Units

I have the iFinder H20 color also; a good back-up, but I often need to pull my magnifying glass out to read it, especially on rough seas. Great detail in the map (west coast ocean)

    Permatrim sea trial

Thanks for the report. I just installed a permatrim on my boat too, but have not had the opportunity to sea-test it yet. With all the wonderful reports here about it, I may be setting my expectations too high though!!!! Received excellent service from the dealer in WA when I had a question on...

    Happy St Patrick's Day

I was swathed in green Roger, lol. No thought police here Joe. I just hope I have it as good as you in location and boat when I get to retire. 14 more years, 14 more years, 14 more years.... May have to come up with the C-Pelican and say hello to you and the lake one summer.

    Happy St Patrick's Day

And for your information...the kids in my science class (high school) still "pinch" non-green clothes wearers.... Traditions die hard.... J

    Catalina this week-end?

I have no idea how I put that picture in the reply?!?!?! But in regards to lobster Joel. Yes, I personally have the best luck with cat food, in cans, the moist stuff. I often begin by opening the tops about 1/4 to 1/2 way to make them last longer and eventually open them up all the way. I have...

    Catalina this week-end?

Bill, You made the same mistake I made after my first multi-day/permit hall with lobsters...I was so excited and happy that I told everyone...but then everyone knows you have tons of lobsters and then your stash disapears very quickly! For example, yes, lets do that anchor BBQ at Cat and eat...

    Catalina this week-end?

Hi Steve, Well, we were not able to hook up. Bill was quite successful he shared with me later. Strange, we were both at the Isthmus too. But I anchored in the free area and he used the moorings. Plus we were both out "working" on the water most of the time I imagine. I caught a few fish...

    cracked wood teak handle

Thanks Joe and Larry. Bob, you mean I am NOT supposed to swing from those handles,,,well shoot!!!! I think it is mainly due to storing the boat in the Mojave Desert uncovered.... Nice to find out they were add-on's and yes, I like the durability and less maintenance of SS handles...but...

    cracked wood teak handle

Thanks Cheers. A glue line is of no concern to me; functionability is my concern.
