Painting motor bracket - how important?

I haven't seen her in the water yet but I assume, based on the bottom paint, that the lower four inches of my bracket will be in the water at rest. I don't know if it's worth all the effort of painting just the bottom few inches or if pressure washing will suffice?

Painting motor bracket - how important?

That's what I figured and is why I'm wondering if I should just skip it and plan on pressure washing the bracket each year.

Painting motor bracket - how important?

Good morning C-Brats. Well this lock-down has really delayed the launch of my new boat. She's sitting up at the yard, halfway through a fiberglass repair and the marina shut down. I'm thinking about bringing her home to knock out a few other projects while the marina's closed. How important...

    Anyone notice?

Ssoblel, Bring some crabbing nets or string and you'll be good to go. Crabbing is allowed. Can a VA resident crab in MD? While you're at it, slide by and pick me up. My boat's still up at the boat yard and I believe they're shutting down during this. Very bummed.

I agree, it would be great if we could at least have a mobile friendly display.

Small Gelcoat repair during Covid-19 distancing

Thanks guys. So it sounds like I may be ok just using gelcoat. I didn't make it up there today so I'll see what the fiberglass guy gives me for gelcoat left over from his project. I'll stay away from the MarineTex. If I don't have mylar, will plastic wrap or wax paper work?

Small Gelcoat repair during Covid-19 distancing

Good afternoon all, I want to repair a little chip in my gelcoat but my resources are a little limited during this pandemic. The chip is on the hull so it's not a horizontal surface. I don't have a pic but I stole this one from another thread. Mine is similar depth but not as large of a chip...

    Reality Check, Good deal?

Harvey, that's a good point and thanks for mentioning it. I was just going to have them add another cost to the paint that's already there. It looks like it's the factory height. SSOBOL, how loaded up are you? There's just 2 of us and a 60lb dog, 12 gallon tanks, and I doubt we'll be doing...

    Homemade bimini

Thanks. I may give one of these prefabs a try just to save money for the first year or two. Probably use the money towards a slant back cover to keep the rain and junk out of the cockpit in her slip. It's a bit hard to swallow $1700 for a bimini top from King.

    Homemade bimini

jkidd, I'm was actually looking on Amazon while you posted that. Pretty tempting. For the price of buying the parts to rig up a temporary homemade solution I might be able to purchase a bimini off of amazon. Have you had any success with these? Even if I only get a couple of years out of it, I'd...

    Reality Check, Good deal?

The boat yard offered to do a "light wash" for me since they have to clean the area for the fiberglass repair anyways. I stopped by today and wow...she looks amazing. This is before any polishing or waxing but I'm amazed at how well she cleaned up. Fiberglass repair should be done by...

    Homemade bimini

In an effort to not completely empty my savings account in new items for my new boat (purchase is official as of today), I'm trying to come up with a way to make my own bimini/shade for the cockpit. King Canvas is around $1300 for the bimini plus $350 for shipping. Has anyone tried something...

    Marine Tex to bond wood.

I braved the Coronavirus last night and grabbed some Devcon epoxy and applied it. It's definitely easier to mix then the Marine Tex.

    Marine Tex to bond wood.

I have some Marine Tex left over from another project and I'm curious if it will work for this. I have to reattach one of the ledges that supports the floor hatch panels under the galley table. This is the little panel under the table that lifts up for storage. One of the ledges became...

I have to repair the hinges on the table. Someone fell on it and ripped the screws out of the wood.

    Reality Check, Good deal?

Spent Saturday cleaning up the cabin. I added a few pics to my album. The exterior needs a really deep cleaning which I'm hoping I can work on around the yard's schedule for the other repairs.
