    Whats the bilge pump secret???

Petemoe, Are you talking about under the splashwell by the fuel tanks? I have the same issue. I have a bilge pump back there that works great at keeping the majority of the water out. After heavy rains my cockpit floor is dry but there's still an inch of water in that fuel tank area. The pump...

    California Dive Boat Captain Indicted

Are any of you licensed captains? I've always wanted to get my 6-pack, and I'm currently acquiring the days at sea in order to obtain it. Right now it's just a personal goal but long term, I'd like to do some deliveries in retirement. I know there are some liability concerns being a licensed...

Need new propeller - try something different?

Thanks DayBreak. Have the grease and a block of wood. Ordered a prop wrench and will grab extra cotter pins and also look for extra thrust washer, etc. I have to admit to being a little spoiled here on the Chesapeake Bay (lazy?) I'm never more than an easy tow to a marina, and usually in water...

Need new propeller - try something different?

Found a new Honda Prop on Boats.net. Do I need to order a new bushing/hub/etc? I haven't pulled the damaged one off yet - probably hasn't been removed in 14 years so hopefully it won't be a problem. Is there something I'm likely to break in the process that I should just go ahead and purchase now?

Need new propeller - try something different?

That's exactly what she said. I was enjoying myself in the cockpit but apparently was supposed to be standing watch. The boat is loaded up but I wouldn't say excessively. I only carry about 24 gallons of fuel, 10 gallons of water, and then the miscellaneous stay-aboard stuff (dishes, life...

Need new propeller - try something different?

Happy Thanksgiving weekend C-Brats, My wife hit a log today on our way home for a great Thanksgiving weekend. I can't be upset with her. I'm just loving the fact that she loves handling the boat. We immediately checked the prop and the tip of all three blades are bent. I'm guessing maybe the...

    Honda 90 Oil Pressure

This is exactly how I've convinced my wife it's imperative we go out on mid-week boat rides. It's important for the motor!

    Honda 90 Oil Pressure

Thanks guys. So I was a bit confused - the oil might read higher when warm but not with the engine running. We did a full service on the motor when I bought it this spring so I started with new oil and a filter. I've put about 100 hours on her so far. Is it likely that I simply burned off...

    Honda 90 Oil Pressure

A few questions about the oil on a 2006 Honda 90: 1) Will normal use cause the oil level to decrease (we've put on about 100 hours this summer.) 2) should the oil level read lower when the motor is running vs not running? (I always thought it was higher due to a hotter temperature.) We had...

    Door paint peeling

Greetings C-brats. Enjoying a nice fall afternoon aboard Curious Traveler on anchor and looking around at little projects I need to do after having her for my first season. I noticed the paint on the exterior of the rear door is starting to buble and even peel in some places. Anything I can do...

    Hawaii lifestyle or C-Dory lifestyle?

Easy Does It, I believe there is a vast difference between living on the water (ie waterfront property) and staying on the water (ie boating.) I grew up not living on the water so trips out to the boat were an escape from land and a total change of lifestyle even if just for the weekend. I...

    Website security

Roger is correct. "Not Secure" in this sense means your web traffic isn't encrypted so if anyone had access to your network (eg you're on public WiFi) they can see what you type - including your password. If you use the same, or similar, password on other sites it would be easy to compromise...

    No privacy for C-Brats

If you want a relaxing weekend of reading a book in the cockpit of your C-Dory, don't visit a busy marina. This was our second weekend staying downtown in Annapolis at the City Marina and I think our C-Dory gets even more attention than the mega yachts. Everyone wants to know what this cool...

    New C-Brat in Maine.

Congrats Singlecross. I know you'll love her. Let us know how the first trip goes. We'd love to trailer ours up from Annapolis and spend a week up there.

    My New 22’ Angler

Congrats Jerry. I was also incredibly lucky this spring to find a 22 Cruiser that had been ignored for a few years and therefore fit within my budget. We love her and have been having an absolute blast with her all summer. Looking forward to some great Fall season overnights. Enjoy your new boat.

    Cavitation

Did 27 miles today in mixed seas without any of the ventilation issues I had last weekend. So it appears it was a combination of the large following seas and how I had her trimmed.

    Cavitation

I believe you're correct, it sounds more like ventilation not cavitation. We have a 22 with a 90 Honda. No permatrim. We've only had her about 5 months but we've used her a ton and haven't had any problems. No issues with sharp turns either. This weekend was the first I noticed it, and it...

    Cavitation

Hello C-Brats, I'm resurrecting this old thread to see if what I experienced this weekend is normal. We had pretty heavy following seas for two days straight and I kept hearing what sounded like my motor trying to cavitate. It was only for a split second each time but was pretty constant...

Update ... We love this boat.

I'm the one that started the "Reality Check" thread earlier this year when we found a great deal on a 22 Cruiser. Although I loved the looks of C-Dory's, and thought they may be a great option for us, I just wasn't sure. We've been enjoying Curious Traveler since April and I have to say we...
