What boat would you move up to?

A huge reason we love our C-Dory is that on a hot summer day here on the Chesapeake, we can close the door, turn on the AC, and enjoy having a cup of tea or G&T, grab a book, and not feel like we're "down below" inside our boat. Don't think we could ever go to a cruiser style boat, or even most...

What boat would you move up to?

Regarding speeds, my wife is happiest at 8-12 knots. With the chop we get on the Bay we find it's not comfortable going any faster unless we have to. Quite frequently I'll keep her at 7-9 even on calm days just to get us used to trawler speeds. The only way we'll afford fuel for our dream boat...

What boat would you move up to?

The Carver 32 Aft Cabin was my family's dream boat for years when I was a kid. We eventually purchased the Carver 33, which was really 38 LOA but during the luxury tax of the 90's, Carver managed to sell it as a 33. Great boat. My parents still have have it. I agree the Nordic's on Yacht World...

What boat would you move up to?

Right. That's why you really can't beat the C-Dory. For the price, I have a cabin that really isn't that much smaller (seemingly) than some much more expensive boats. But there are some options for 100-120k, I just don't know if they're worth the extra $$ considering in about 9 years we'd like...

What boat would you move up to?

I do love the Camano Troll's, and size-wise they are probably perfect. But the stairs to the bridge make the flybridge mostly unusable with our dog and I don't believe the lower station is really set up for two people to have good forward seating underway. Meaning one at the helm and the other...

What boat would you move up to?

Forgot to mention Rosborough 246. Great looking boats but not a significant increase in size.

What boat would you move up to?

Greeting C-Brats, I can't believe I'm actually asking this...more thinking out loud than anything. I'm researching my next boat and I'm looking for suggestions on boats I may not be thinking of. What have you considered moving up to, or have you seen other's move up, to with similar...

How to get the wife on board for a C-Dory 22

My wife and I were campers, not boaters. (I grew up boating but it was prior to marriage.) We moved to the Chesapeake Bay from Colorado and I instantly fell back into my love of being on the water. I sold my wife on the idea of getting a boat "camper" and going boat camping on the Bay. I called...

    Chart Plotters

I currently use AquaMaps on an Android tablet to supplement my Raymarine Chart plotter. The Raymarine is too old for updates so I need the current charts on the tablet. I also use Open CPN which is an excellent open source chart plotter that works on a PC and Android/iOS. it's much more...

    BF90D prop size

That's the prop on my 2006 Honda 90. I don't get much over 5000 RPM even with trimming. It's not super loaded but I definitely have some weight onboard.

What's Seattle really like these days?

This has been an interesting post because my wife and I are trying to determine where we want to retire to. I keep looking at the Seattle area, or the greater PNW, as an option based upon the beautiful geography. It's the weather that I'm most concerned about. Localboy, I spent 15 years working...

Yes, that's exactly where mine leaked.

Leak into cabin around roof rack bolt

If it's like mine, the bolts holding up the shelf are the same bolts holding the handholds on the roof of the pilothouse. I had a tiny leak there too. I used some Lifeseal to reseal the base of the handholds.

    Used Motor Prices

It was a random thought after reading Yakmandu's post. My engine runs great but it's only a matter of time before it won't. And I'd love to no longer have a carbureted motor. If the market is hot for used motors right now and I can get into something brand new for 5k, it may be worth considering.

    Used Motor Prices

Interesting...do you mind sharing the prices? I have a 2006 Honda 90 that runs excellent, with only about 250 hours (previous owner hardly ever used her.) Curious what I could get for it to put towards a brand new motor.

    Mechanically she checks out

    Fuel filter/ water separator

Mine came with a racor s3240. I was actually going to post on here tonight to see what everyone else uses. I want to replace mine to see if it's the cause of my motor bogging down. It's not on stock anywhere so I'm wondering if I can replace with something similar.

No particular reason - Just a pic of my boat

Never need an excuse. I just finished polishing and waxing mine and have to fight the urge to share a pic. Keep telling myself that everyone on here has one of their own, they don't need to see mine! But they're such cool looking boats. We've had some excellent weather here on the Chesapeake...
