    Any cons to camper back?

This might be an interesting poll subject. Maybe our moderator could pose a question like: if you have a full camper enclosure would you do it again? (My answer (yes) I’m reminded of what a clever realtor told my son when I advised him against buying a house with a pool. The seller said: The...

    Any cons to camper back?

Like everything else it all depends on how you use your boat. If you trailer your boat I’d say no camper top because you’d have to put it up and take it down often. (As you would a Bimini if you care about it) If you keep your boat in a slip for the season it’s a nice addition that enables you...

    Any cons to camper back?

Camper back with stainless tubing and good quality Sunbrella and zip open windows with screens will indeed run $3000 plus. Mine was that much back in 2002. It will keep the whole cockpit bone dry if you keep your boat in the water though. I never once regretted going with the full camper...

    Replace a Honda Trim/Tilt

I have done a tear down on a tilt and trim motor on a 1992 45 Honda and was able to do it with the motor on the transom. The motor is very simple as I recall, like a miniature starter motor. I thought it probably needed brushes. It bothered me to break all of the waterproof seals on the cover to...

    Tomcat CO detector problem

Well you said you’d welcome any comments so I hope you will forgive this stupid question. Does your hardwired CO detector have a backup battery that could be low or dead and it is beeping to warn you of that? Does the Home Depot detector have a current blocking tab that needs to be removed for...

    Why not twin kickers?

A couple of things I overlooked while learning to dock 35 years ago was that neutral can be very useful in making a boat go where you want it to. Don’t forget you have neutral. I made the early mistake of thinking I needed power in forward or reverse constantly while maneuvering for docking...

    Why not twin kickers?

Thrusters are wonderful. Practice is a lot less expensive though. You would still have to practice with them in strong current and windy conditions. Not a lot different than flying though I suppose.

    Why not twin kickers?

You will encounter all kinds of chalenges in docking. There is no magic single solution that will erase occasional embarrassment. I have found that the best cure although the least studied and least expensive is also the least practiced: Study and Practice.

    The 4 letter word...WOOD

After looking at every picture this morning I think I would feel very guilty offering them less than asking. I have always liked George Buehler designs so thanks for the post. If anyone wants to follow another “Troller Yacht” being built check out and subscribe to “Salt and Tar” on YouTube. A...

    Intersting Vessel

When you’ve spent your entire life in commission sales you get to see a wide range of negotiation tactics and there is no shortage of advice from friends or experts on how to get the best deal. But what if something is priced well below what would seem to be a reasonable price? That’s when...

Water showing under access port under the port-a-potty

I had a small amount of clean clear water in that little sump inspection area once. Do you have your port a potty in that space? I had a perfect storm of a loose clean water tank cap on my port a potty and a loose inspection cap on the sole. Never happened again. I ain’t sayin’, I’m just sayin.

    Clearing fowled props

Not really a helpful comment, but: as a brand new boater decades ago my motor stalled when I engaged the throttle forward. I re-started, reved it up in neutral, and put the motor in reverse to blow off the prop and it ran fine but when I shifted to forward it stalled again. Repeat, repeat...

    Bear Spray

I have absolutely no opinion on bear protection but I have a Shockwave. If you get one practice, practice, practice! Because they are mostly shot from the side of your hip or ribs I have a tendency to shoot high, especially at close distances. They have a surprisingly tight pattern at 15 yards...

    Best microwave for 22 cruiser

There's a photo of my built-in microwave in my album. It's under the front port seat base. Never had any regrets with this system. Lots of frozen egg croissant's went through it over the years. My EU2000 or my Pro sign inverter both ran it in all ranges. As I recall is wasn't more than 1000 watts.

honda water pump impeller change interval

You will get all kinds of answers to that of course. Some of the conditions the motors are running in vary too. Muddy rivers or clear lakes make some difference. I had twin Honda 40's and ran on the muddy Mississippi for 11 years and about a thousand hour. I changed 3 times based on the...

    Raising the roof

BEST answer yet in my opinion! I was going to suggest lowering the sole which would eliminate messing with the windows LOL.

water getting into gas on a 2009 c-dory 23' Venture

The clamshell is the same principle but I'm not sure I've seen one large enough clearance-wise to cover the vent protrusion I had on my vent. Then there are screw holes I didn't want to deal with. Hooded protection from top and front is key i think, whatever works to do that.

water getting into gas on a 2009 c-dory 23' Venture

I had the same problem and did the same fix you did and then had the same problem again too. Here's what I did and I never had the problem again. I cut a 1 inch section of a 2" diameter piece of PVC pipe at an angle on my miter saw. About 30 to 45 degrees. I cut it so that it was about one...

What is wrong with this boat?

Sorry folks! This was supposed to be a single (not double) post to another thread that seems to have disappeared. Something about is a 16 angler a good sized 3 day live aboard. Don't know how I screwed this up. I tried to delete the whole thing and couldn't do that either.
