"To this island in March 1634 Govenor Leonard Calvert and the first Maryland Colonists came in the vessels Ark and Dove. Here they took possession of the province of Maryland, erected a cross of Maryland wood and celebrated the holy sacrifice. Here they first brought to the new world those principles of religious liberty which have been the chief history of this state."

    Fuel Conditioner... what type??

Matt, My boat sat from mid November '08 until mid April '09 with two half full tanks of an ethanol/gas mixture stabilized with Startron. Either I was lucky or the stuff worked cause those two half tanks have been run through the engine without incident. Mike "Levity"

    Rubber Boot Gone Bad

Captn Dan, Just replaced my boot with the Atwood 1280-5. This is a split boot and an easy repair. Just slide it on and secure. Deploy a few extra wire ties onto the boot to ensure uniform closure. Mike "Levity"

    Questions about my Garmin chartplotter

Harper, I have two Garmin Marine Data cards that I used in my previous Garmin unit (188C). One card covers the Chesapeake Bay (MUS 006R)and the other covers the ICW from Norfolk to Florida (MUS 007R). If these can work for you email me and we'll work out the details. Regards, Mike "Levity"

    Newbie questions

Chas, The spare prop and tools are handy when you rap your prop on something solid. It is a good idea to have a spare castle nut, washer, cotter pin, and thrust washer (bearing) as it is too easy to drop one of these into the deep while stretched out over the engine changing a prop. Regards...

    Kleen-Heat

Radar and heading sensor for overlay

The Garmin 4210 will provide radar overlay without a heading sensor. The heading sensor adds collision avoidance capacity to the RADAR function of the 4210. Since the heading sensor provides a constant heading to the GPS/RADAR (even if anchored or underway but not making way) directionally...

    Boater competentcy...

To my knowledge all states require individuals to pass a written test as well as demonstrate basic practical skills before issuing an auto drivers licence. Again, to my knowledge, all states enforce their driving rules with various degrees of vigor. Yet, despite the education and testing prior...

    Scary trailer incident

Les, Your comments about tieing the load onto the trailer make a lot of sense. The transom tie downs on my boat are a joke. Relying on the winch cable alone to keep the bow in place and the winch post to keep the boat from moving forward if unusual loads are intoduced does seem overly...
