    C-22 fuel odor in cockpit

I had the same problem on my '94 with aluminum tanks. The odor disappeared after I changed all of the fuel lines. It turned out that although the old lines looked good (and were in no way cracked or worn) gas had permeated into the rubber and gave off the smell. Even when I have my camper...

    Motor Support for Trailering

I've had good success with the transom saver. It makes me feel better to have the support in place -- but you need to really crank the trailer straps tightly to be sure the boat and trailer move as one -- otherwise you'll be dragging the brace down the highway  . Matt

Sad news, friends. We've lost Sneaks.

Rest in Peace Don. Though we've never met in person I've long enjoyed and valued your posts. Matt

    Why moor?

Indeed, I go sit on my boat in dry storage 3 days a week and work -- OK procrastinate and then work. I bring 2 laptops, the iPhone, and a pile of books -- and have a delightful satellite office space. The dry storage is in the local boat yard, so there is always something interesting to see!

    Rubbing Compound for Gelcoat Scratches?

Thanks Scott -- the fingernail test is a great place to start. Matt

    Rubbing Compound for Gelcoat Scratches?

Thanks for these suggestions -- I'm wary of the acrylics due to the difficulty in removing and a concern over discoloration or peeling over time in the sun. I'll try the wetsanding under the waterline to see how things go and report back. Thanks for the tips. Matt

    Rubbing Compound for Gelcoat Scratches?

I wanted to bring this thread back to the top because I'm trying to repair fender rub damage on my green trim. I've polished, using the 3M fiberglass restorer, and waxed and waxed, but the dull scratches are still obvious: I also have some scratches from meeting a dock pile (so a C-Dory and...

    Santa Cruz Island

Downtown LA -- record heat at 113 degrees. And Ventura -- 98 degrees.

    Santa Cruz Island

107 degrees passing through Thousand Oaks today -- and 1000 degrees (it seems) sitting here at USC. Luckily, my car AC only works under 85 degrees... :sad What great pictures... I want to be there now. Thanks for cooling me down at least for the moment.

    Engines

Now I want a Suzuki! Darn Yamaha I just bought will probably outlast me... Maybe if I run WOT all time I can get the Suzuki sooner? Actually I bought the Yami due to having a local shop here in town with excellent service (Inflatable Boats Specialists) -- and I've been very VERY happy...

Is a C-Dory the right boat for me?

Great post Bob -- I've often wondered about the hull shape of the Radon. Indeed, if I were running home downwind every afternoon from the Islands the Radon would be a real stable platform. Makes a lot of sense. Matt

    TOWING C-Dory with Camper cover

Also, the wind will cause your canvass to rub and wear your gelcoat. Learned that the hard way.

    How to handle rough seas

Turns out I actually paid for it -- $1.99. But well worth it. It is the NOAA Buoy Data reader by Verona Solutions.

    How to handle rough seas

These are all excellent observations & suggestions. Jay & Jo-Lee -- I thought I was the only one using the cabin sole trick! When it's really uncomfortable I try to get my youngest (the only one who is prone to seasickness) to bundle up on the floor. It is quite comfy. He prefers the V-Berth...
