09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

We will be in Oak on Sept 20th...staying overnight. This will give us a good rendezvous point so everybody can catch up with the group. May be in there other nights too...it's a good hiding spot if we get weather.

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Getting some questions from folks about what works for the bass at Powell. Not much of a fisherman myself. Would Brent or maybe Tony like to give us some ideas on what would be good?

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Well...we're gettin' close folks! Water level is looking good...somewhere around 20 feet higher than last Septembers cruise. Looks like the cut will be open. Water temp will be around 80 or so...great for swimming or the occasional bath. Don't forget the Ivory soap! Even looks like fuel is...

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Speaking of Oak Bay...we will likely have a rendezvous in Oak Bay...just a little further in from where that pic was taken...on the 20th. Plenty of room...good protection...nice beaches. It can be a little tough to find each other on this lake...it's so huge...and the topography...radios aren't...

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Steve...Jim and Pat are right on. I think we all will be rather conservative on the speed. Come to think of it...you have a tug...right? I'll bring my tow line! You may not be the only Ranger in the group...Marilyn & Denny may join us on their Ranger...could be others. See you there!

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Looks like no worries on the water level in Lake Powell for our September cruise. The drawdown of the few feet earlier in the month has already been replaced. Castle Rock shortcut is even predicted to be open this season...it's been closed due to low water levels for several years. Bureau of...

Actually Don...it was the other way around...El was into sailboats and Bill was into inner tubes and jeeps or some such.

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Steve...great to hear you moved up to a 19. I don't think we have ever had a 19 on the Lake Powell get together. That will be a first! I will be launching on Thursday the 18th. We can plan on getting the group together then and heading up lake. We might also plan on a rendezvous somewhere on...

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

September on Lake Powell...doesn't get any better. I'm thinking last two weeks of the month. By that time it has cooled off a bit...water is still warm...the summer crowds have gone home. Say meet at Wahweap around the 18th-19th?

CD16 Fuel Tanks - Range for Lake Powell

Well...gosh...I wouldn't discourage anyone wanting to do Lake Powell in a 16. Jon & Patty did it in a 12 foot inflatable! But that was before they got Sea Shanti...a 22. Steve cruised with us on his 16 and did fine. Although Sidney must have said something because right after that Steve was...

    Wallas 800/220 Marine Stove/Heater

BaseCampAnne, Actually...all the so called two burner stoves only have one burner...on the left side of the stove. Hence the single control. The right "burner" is created by routing the exhaust gasses from the left burner to the right burner area before venting overboard. The right burner puts...

    10/12 - 10/14 - Santa Barbara Seafood Festival

Roy figures they will be there around 7:00-7:30. I'll have a slip at the guest dock which includes parking for the truck. At least it did in years past. So I'll boat on over to the Whales Tail which has a dock. Anyone staying in the parking lot can boat over with me if they like.

    10/12 - 10/14 - Santa Barbara Seafood Festival

I will launch Thursday evening also. Anybody up for dinner at the Whales Tail? Roy...do you think you and Lori will be there soon enough for dinner?

    c dory nada values

A "big boat" approach really helps here. Obtain a list of approved surveyors from your financial institution. Select a surveyor in touch with the market on C-Dorys. It will cost a bit more to have the boat surveyed...but you will end up with a much more realistic value. With an official survey...

    Wheel bearing/brake trouble after paradise

Russ...It is normal for the hubs to sling grease if they are over greased. They will also do this when they get hot and the grease thins. Unless the hubs are running too hot to touch...I would not worry about it. If the hubs are getting really hot...the first place I would look is your breakaway...

    New CD22 sink istallation

Jeff...why don't you come on down to San Diego and look at my boat? That way you will see the entire factory install...take pics and measurements...looking at the install in person beats trying to figure out the location of everything from measurements and a few pics!

    Lake Powell September Cruise

Bob...really don't have plans...as usual. I'm thinking I might run up the San Juan...probably before the 23rd. After the 23rd...maybe up the Escalante...see all the sights up there...maybe stay in Fiftymile. Then on up lake. Tough to make plans as you know...sometimes you pull into a canyon with...

    Lake Powell September Cruise

Hey Ken...bet that Miata is a little easier on fuel than the Vivien C ...eh? When I was thinking about fishing lures yesterday I thought of you and that hard to get...high dollar lure you had...a trout if I remember correctly. Did that thing ever produce for you?

    Lake Powell September Cruise

Sportner...Brent on Discovery is the guy to talk to on the fishing...I think he was using some little spinners in May...I think a Mepps...or a Rooster Tail? Caught a bunch in the anchorage at Oak one afternoon.
