    Replacing a Wallas Stove Wick....

The "single burner" Wallas has only 60% the heat output of the "two burner". The reality is both stoves only have one burner. The larger stove has more area to extract more BTU's and deliver them to the living space. I bet your stove is fine...just doesn't have the heating capacity you remember...

    09/24 - 10/02 - Lake Powell 2010

Ken...one of the disadvantages to launching at Bullfrog or Hall's Crossing on the north end is there is very little in the way of services up there. I have never launched up there so I'm not too familiar with what the nearest provision spot would be. However...on the south end..Wahweap...full...

    09/24 - 10/02 - Lake Powell 2010

Let's set the rendevous for Saturday, September 25, in Oak Canyon. I will launch on Friday the 24th at Wahweap and head up river with any other boats that want to come along. Maybe overnight somewhere on the way and plan on Oak Canyon Saturday. Then on up river hitting the must see spots. I...

    Lake Powell 2009

I see we have 3 threads now talking about Lake Powell…but I thought I would post to the main thread some tips/suggestions for those unfamiliar with cruising on Powell. The Stan Jones Map and Kelsey’s Boaters Guide to Lake Powell are essential. Both are full of facts and interpretive information...

    Lake Powell 2009

Checking water levels today...looks like more water this year than we have had in many years. I'm guessing about 5-6 feet higher than last year's cruise. Will change our beaches a bit...some will disappear...others will appear. Of course with more water and the dredging...Castle Rock cut will be...

    Lake Powell 2009

Steve...the 22's are usually OK fuel wise...unless we get real adventurous and do the San Juan or something...although with the low water levels of late it only goes back 35 miles or so. Might have more water this year so it could get close...at high water the San Juan can be a 100+ mile round...

    Lake Powell 2009

Byrdman...you can bring either boat...makes no diff! For whatever reason...the 25's really suffer at 3600'+. The smaller boats don't seem to suffer much of a loss...I loose about 200 RPM on my 22. The 25's seem to loose a bunch...trouble planing even. I think if it were me I'd go down 2 prop...

Lyle & Janda...glad to have you along...See Saw has cruised with us before on Powell...just put her in "automatic" and she will know what to do! Get the Stan Jones map. Have an idea of your fuel consumption...maybe some extra fuel...the gas pumps are a ways apart on Powell...with lots of long...

    Lake Powell 2009

Thought I would bring this back to the top with a book recommendation for those coming to Lake Powell. Boater's Guide to Lake Powell by Michael R. Kelsey...along with the Stan Jones Boating and Exploring Map of Lake Powell...are two essential references while cruising Lake Powell.

    How safe are anchor swivels

Steve...I would highly recommend a book by Earl R. Hinz...The complete Book of Anchoring and Mooring. Best book out there about anchors etc. He does not recommend swivels unless there is a need to anchor for extended periods. If a twisted rode is a problem when recovering your anchor...you are...

    Lake Powell 2009

Had some inquiries about this trip so I thought I would drag it to the top. Order your Stan Jones map and plan away! Or plan a way...as the case may be.

    Lake Powell 2009

Well it looks like folks will be coming from far and wide again this year. I will be launching at Wahweap on the 17th of September...and heading uplake from there. I think it might be a good idea to plan on a rendezvous at Oak Canyon on Saturday the 19th...so folks out on the lake at that time...

    Lake Mohave Cruise Feb 12-16

Yep...figure 83 Dollar would be a good spot...close to Katherine...and a real nice little cove. If something doesn't keep us at Katherine...that's where we will be.

    Lake Mohave Cruise Feb 12-16

A little geography help for folks planning and navigating...since it's a bit counterintuitive. In this area of the Colorado River...Nevada lies between Arizona and California. Lake Mohave is between Arizona on the east and Nevada on the west. Katherine Landing, Arizona is about 6 miles east and...

    C-Brat Wannabe

Hooked on Powell...why not swing by Lake Mohave weekend after next? There will be a whole mess of C-Dorys there...some you probably saw at Powell in September. Bet you could get a tour or two!

    Lake Mohave Cruise Feb 12-16

Ron...great to hear you folks took Bill up on his suggestion! You might consider storing at Lake Mohave...at either Katherine Landing...where most of us will launch...or Cottonwood Cove...a bit north. Both have dry storage...and slips too if you want to be in the water. That way your boat will...

    Lake Mohave Cruise Feb 12-16

Steve...I don't recall any grills on the beaches. We usually use our grills on the boats...some folks have those Cobb grills that they use on the beach. In the past we have used the covered picnic area at Cottonwood Cove for our BBQ's...there are grills in the picnic area. This was handy because...
