Elbows on Racor fuel/water separator? +Splashwell location

Yes...mounted inside on the splashwell wing...next to the fuel valve...aft of the battery mount. My primer bulb is also there...I can reach in above the fuel tank and squeeze the bulb...or change the filter. I relieved the tank protector board to give clearance for the filter when changing it...

Elbows on Racor fuel/water separator? +Splashwell location

In my opinion...the splashwell is not a good place for fuel filters and hoses. Too wet...too much sun...too much junk. I would mount it in the void over the starboard fuel tank behind the battery compartment. Depending on your particular set up...you might need to make adjustments to accommodate...

09/21 Lake Powell September 2013 Gathering

Sunbeam...that's the one...Willow Creek is in Fortymile. Didn't have any trouble finding firewood that night! Thanks for the lesson...I almost had it...but one little step...and no go.

09/21 Lake Powell September 2013 Gathering

Jody...we had a great sandbar up in there in 2008...water level 3628. The lead picture in the 2008 Lake Powell Gathering album is of that sandbar...I would stick the pic in here if I knew how. Tyboo...thanks for the announcement/signup.

09/21 Lake Powell September 2013 Gathering

I see folks are putting together their plans for this coming season so let's firm up the Lake Powell cruise dates for this September. Rendezvous will be in Oak Canyon on Saturday, September 21. We will have a potluck type thing in Oak Canyon on Saturday night...then head up river to see the high...

    Charging system problem

Sunbeam...your recollection is correct...the replacement rectifier is twice as big. My sense is that when the system called for heavy current...when the batteries were way down...the rectifier could not handle the heat generated...it had a large burned spot in the potting on the back side. The...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

On my boat the shorter screw is for the forward hole...shorter to accommodate the radius in the rail above. The longer screw in the forward position will bottom out on the rail.

    Cost of new C-Dory 22

What C-Dory needs now is a magic formula...which would be a Jeff Messmer employed by a manufacturer that would let him do what needs to be done.

    New Trailer for a 25' C-Dory

I would recommend Pacific Trailers...they are in Chino just east of LA. They have built a bunch of trailers for C-dorys and build a good trailer. I have had good luck with their trailers. http://www.pacifictrailers.com/

    Anchor Locker Drain

Sunbeam...if the drain hole was drilled too low...it would create an opening to the area under the locker floor before it penetrated the hull. Thus...water would drain under the locker...inside the hull and accumulate under the hull liner. Poor quality control at the factory. The fix was to...

    Great boat recipe?

Mary...thanks for the special dispensation on the ingredient limit! Orzo Salad 1 box Orzo pasta 1 jar Trader Joe's Sun Dried Tomatoes (Julienne Sliced) 1 jar Trader Joe's Artichoke Hearts (drained and cut in smaller pieces) 1 jar Trader Joe's Kalamata Olives (drained and cut in smaller pieces)...

    09/22 Lake Powell 2012

Folks coming from the PNW seem to favor launching at Bullfrog...but need to provision somewhere before they get to Bullfrog...not much there. Most cruises the main group passes through Bullfrog on Monday or Tuesday...usually Monday... on our way uplake to Forgotten Canyon for an overnight...

    09/22 Lake Powell 2012

Well it looks like water levels are going to be about 30 feet lower than last year...I'm guessing the rendezvous will be out in Oak Canyon bay instead of up in the canyon like last year. Castle Rock cut looks like it will be open...but a bit skinny...will need to stay in the channel. Will be...

Steve...can't really say where we will be at this point. PM me your cell number and I will call you Friday when I know. Glad it looks like you will finally make this trip...I know you have really wanted to do this for some time.

    09/22 Lake Powell 2012

Steve...in round figures I usually go up lake 100 miles...with about 100 miles of side trips...and 100 miles back down lake. The week usually comes in somewhere between 300-400 miles. Our usual most distant canyon is at mile 106...with marinas at mile 40 and 95. While in the canyons we usually...

    09/22 Lake Powell 2012

We are not so organized on this trip to the point where we actually have an itinerary...or assignments for the pot luck. The veterans will usually take off on their own individually or in small groups...sometimes with a rendezvous for the next night in mind. I'm happy to take those not as...

    09/22 Lake Powell 2012

I would agree with potter water...the "its just a lake" attitude will get you in trouble on Powell. Most of the hazards are not marked. The only channel marks are over the old river course in the main channel. It pays to honor them. Once away from the main channel of the Colorado you must watch...

Southeast Alaska 2012 with Jay, Jo-Lee & the Hunkydory

I use HyperVent under my berth...works great...light weight...not too costly. Fisheries Supply has it.

    Suzuki engine query

The bulb should not soften. I would look for a clogged fuel filter upstream from the bulb. Also, check condition of fuel system components upstream of the bulb for deterioration that might allow air to be sucked into the system. This might be a cracked hose, loose connection or a bad packing...
