    Who Took This Photo?

Hello... Terry Sibel here again. I got a couple of pictures from Brent and Dixie (thank you so much), but I'm really hoping folks have others out there to send. I know Chris did a lot of cruising with many of you over many years so I'm hoping there are more out there to share. I cannot...

    08/29 - 10/01 - Grand Slam Western Lakes 2015

Unfortunately circumstances have come up that will prevent me from participating in any cruises or gatherings this year. Hopefully someone will step up and continue with this Western Lakes idea and with the Lake Powell gathering.

    Wallas Loose Wire...

The boards on the Wallas vary a bunch...but that black wire is a ground and you should find a spade next to the two main power wires...Sunbeam's pic gives a good indication of where the spade is. The two large red and black wires are the main power connection...and you should find a vacant spade...

    08/29 - 10/01 - Grand Slam Western Lakes 2015

I was thinking a couple weeks between Bellingham and Yellowstone...but it looks like all things considered it would be preferable to move the Lakes schedule up a week. So dates would look like this... Yellowstone Lake Gathering, Saturday August 29th Jackson Lake Gathering, Saturday...

    08/29 - 10/01 - Grand Slam Western Lakes 2015

We discussed doing this earlier in the Yellowstone Lake thread. I really like the idea but I have no experience on the upper lakes. El & Bill's 2008 Grand Slam of Western Lakes is a great reference...and I am thinking that we have enough collective knowledge to make it happen. Keeping in mind...

    Wallas reminder

The so called two burner Wallas stoves only have one burner....the exhaust gases from the one burner are routed under the second "burner"...which is why it produces less heat value.

    Towing

Be sure your rental agreement allows you to tow something you did not rent from them...many don't.

    09/20 - Lake Powell 2014 Gathering

Scott...Oak is at mile 51 to starboard heading upstream. There is a large bay at the mouth on the canyon...the group will be in the bay somewhere...or possibly up the canyon a short way...depending on the water level and where the good beaches are. Cruise into the bay and look for a dozen or two...

    09/20 - Lake Powell 2014 Gathering

Kathi...I usually try to set the dates around the first of the year. You can plan on Saturday the 19th of September for the gathering in Oak Canyon...and the cruise the week following. In 2015 we are going to plan another Grand Slam of Western Lakes as some folks did back in 2008 (see Halcyon...

    Water level in Lake Powell

Be prepared for extreme heat at Mead...elevation 2500 feet lower than Powell...so even hotter. I'm with Bob...head for the coast!

    E-250 V8 -250 EB is it enough?

The reality is that the badging can be very misleading...all F-250's or E-250's are not created equally. Further complicated by model year variations. Just a quick example...2009 E-250's were built with 5 different spring packs and 4 different radiators...depending on how the truck was spec'd...

    Yellowstone lake

Colby...just want to be sure you are aware of the extreme heat that time of year on Powell. Well over 100 degrees...and not so cool at night. Some people can take it...some are very uncomfortable...and for some downright dangerous. I purposely schedule the Powell gathering after the 15th of...

    Yellowstone lake

Excellent idea Rob. Let's move this up a notch...no need to linger at the idea stage! I remember El & Bill and others did this kind of thing a while ago. I'm not familiar with the lakes to the north of Powell. Jay...Jody...what kind of time would be needed at each lake to do it justice? If we...

    GPS for Towing

I would highly recommend the Garmin RV760LMT...very happy with mine...very intuitive...plug it in and use it...didn't need any instruction. RV specific. I love the 7 inch screen...even though I had to make room for it. About $369 at Amazon. From Amazon: •Large 7" high-resolution touchscreen...

    09/20 - Lake Powell 2014 Gathering

Mary...if you launched at Hall's crossing you would have a good chance of catching the group as we go by. Depending on what day you are there we will either be headed upstream to Forgotten Canyon...or heading back downstream. We stop at Hall's both ways for supplies/ice/fuel/water/ice cream and...

    09/20 - Lake Powell 2014 Gathering

On the grocery issue...I agree with Sunbeam. Convenience store at best...and at the time of year we are there...tail end of the season...they are running their inventory down so pickings can be slim. I always recommend that folks provision for the duration before they leave the launch ramp...

    New trailer tires

Joe...I've seen many references to the "use is good, sitting is bad" idea for tires...works well for other stuff...like boats... too. Worse thing you can do is let them sit. Here's a link to one reference talking about emollients working to the surface of the tire as it works...

    09/20 - Lake Powell 2014 Gathering

Looks like the third Saturday of September is the 20th this year...so our gathering in Oak Canyon will be September 20th, 2014. The water guessers seem to think the water situation will be slightly better this year...so levels should be similar to last year. I will be leaving the Wahweap marina...

Does your trailer 'clunk ... ?

Surge brakes will give a little clunk normally...but if it is excessive it can mean the brakes need to be bled. There should be a small amount of travel in the actuater...but if the travel is approaching 100% it will really clunk...and the remedy is to bleed the brakes.
