"A Seafood Snob Ponders the Future of Fish"

Roger, I agree with you-wild salmon beats the farmed salmon taste-wise by a wide margin. However I would prefer wild chinook to coho or sockeye. A troll caught chinook, quickly dispatched, bled, quickly chilled, and eaten the same day or next day-is as good as it gets! You can't buy that kind...

Changing my own oil; need some backup!

Agree with Da Nag on the vacuum pump for oil changes, especially on Hondas. Don't know about Suzukis but I could never change the Honda oil without making a big mess until I got one of those dipstick extractors. Mine leaves nothing that will drain out thru the oil plug-plus you don't have to...

    Trailer bunks damaging bottom paint

Tim, I have an EZ Loader with what looks like the same bunk system. I haven't had the same wear pattern on my bunks that you do. I suspect that the bolts under bunk are not allowing the bunks to pivot, hence all the wear on the inside edges. On my trailer the pivot bolts are just loose...

    Penguin: 1 Orcas: 0

Real or not it was a great video. I agree with Merv, those orcas were just having a little fun-didn't seem too serious about catching the penguin. They have no trouble catching speedy agile salmon-seems like a penguin would not be much of a challenge.

    Fishing the Queen Charlotte Islands

Jay, My concern was mostly about the gravel and dust/mud depending on the weather. I once towed a previous boat on a gravel logging road during dry season. It took me a long time to get the dirt out of the boat. It was thick on every surface of the boat. If this trip happens it will be a...

    Fishing the Queen Charlotte Islands

Harvey, I have that book and it is a good one. I went to his slide presentation at the boat show a few years ago. He has a lot of good info in his book but his cruising style is "high speed-get there quick-get back home" which didn't appeal to me. I'll go back and review his info about the...

    My Wallas stove has "died"......

Wes, Check the Documents section under Forums above. There are two documents which might help. One has a lot of good pictures and info on overhauling the Wallas. It might be a different model than yours but they are similar.

    Seabeagle's 08 Vacation photos

Seabeagle, Some of those pix brought back memories. I was stationed at K. I. Sawyer AFB for 5 years (1971-76) and boated a lot in Lake Superior. The Upper Peninsula is a boating paradise with so many lakes. In those days my boating was in a 14' cartopper with an18hp Evinrude or paddling a...

    Measurements needed; asking help

That jives with my measurement on my 2002.

    Fishing the Queen Charlotte Islands

Thanks for all the info. That must be some book-I just checked Amazon and they want $314 for a used copy! I have a call in to a place called Hidden Island RV Resort in Masset. Sounds like about what I am looking for. This trip will be purely a fishing trip and I think we would stick to the...

    Fishing the Queen Charlotte Islands

I have been researching the idea of a fishing trip to the Queen Charlotte Islands next summer. I was wondering if any C-Brats have any experience or info about the area? Everything I have found on-line looks promising. I would tow the C-Dory to Prince Rupert and take the ferry to Skidegate...

Closing off the anchor area on a 22 Cruiser

I have two new lazaret hatch covers which I have not installed yet. Looks like the old lazaret hatches could be recycled for the anchor locker cover? There should be a lot of those available soon if they will fit.

    Boat stuff I like

Dene, I am surprised Pat hasn't chimed in but "Light" beer? I have been known to drink a few Coronas but life is too short to drink light beer.

    replacing L-bracket in hull

Charlie, I hate to confuse the issue any further, but I think you got it backwards. The selvage edge Bob was referring to is the smooth finished or factory edge of the cloth or tape. Using 2 inch wide tape and cutting 2 inch long pieces from the tape, you would end up with 2in by 2in pieces...

    Uh Oh!

Bill, Some great points to ponder. We have traveled a lot in the six years since I retired-mostly by RV rather that C-Dory. In years past my wife enjoyed one or at most two nights on the boat at lakes near home. The trip to Lake Powell and spending 7 nights on the boat was a great treat and...

    Uh Oh!

mpmccoy, Sure you can-just get a 5 year sub-prime, interest only, big balloon payment loan! Ha Ha just kidding. Sorry you had to go back to work, there is a lot of that going around.

The Cruising Adventures of Wild Blue and crew...

Jim, In the ST22575R15 size I have found several stores here in the northwest that sell both D and E load range tires. That size would probably fit your trailer.

The Cruising Adventures of Wild Blue and crew...

Jim, To echo Steve's experience, I had problems with Goodyear Marathons on my travel trailer. In 2007 we were on a 8 month trip and two of the four Marathons developed large bulges in the sidewall at the junction with the tread. I replaced the first one with another Marathon and the second one...

    Inflatable Life Jackets

Allan, I like the inflatables, especially for warm weather. I like Mustang brand. I have both types on my boat. I wear the standard float type jacket in cold weather and the inflatable in cool or warm conditions. I have three on my boat. When used by novices you need to remind them not to...
