    Fishing the Queen Charlotte Islands

We made it to the Queen Charlottes without any problems. Ferry trip was uneventful except for one little surprise. The ferry only has one door so I had to back the boat on down a long winding ramp. They have great helpers and it went very smoothly. We got set up in camp and had to wait two...

Race report from this past weekend's relay

Roger, Congrats on a great race. My son ran with a team of friends from Microsoft. They ended up in 40 something place. He said the same thing as you- a great race and a lot of fun and he will definitely do it again.

    Fishing the Queen Charlotte Islands

Chromer, I am taking a small freezer-loaded in the back of the C-Dory. We have done this at Ucluelet for years and it works great. The rules allow you some latitude in how you process your catch, but generally we gut and head salmon and freeze whole. When we get home, if the fish is larger...

    Fishing the Queen Charlotte Islands

Well the die is cast. We departed this morning for Prince Rupert and eventually the Queen Charlottes. After many calls and a lot of internet research I decided to go with Hidden Island Resort. We will camp there for a month. My hope is to do a lot of fishing off the north shore of Graham...

    Fuel Tanks on 22-Angler

Tom, I had to replace the tanks on my 2002 cruiser and they were just as you described; 23 gallon with aft sloping top and they were made by Moeller. I purchased mine from the factory about 2 years ago. I would guess they were a special-order item for Moeller and that you would have to get...

Bit more on Twin 50 Honda Props

Seacozy, I have a 2002 Cruiser with twin 40HP Hondas. I am always running heavily loaded. I use Honda aluminum 3 blade props, 11.4in dia X 12in pitch. This gives me 5500 RPM under most running conditions.

    Handy New Gadget

That's what I finally did after years of trying find one that fits. I hate changing gear oil because of the mess it makes. Even though I found Honda threaded ends for the lube tube, getting the plug started without making a mess is impossible for me. There must be a better way.

    Manson vs Bruce

I don't have a lot experience anchoring, but would like to know what would be the purpose of letting your anchor sit for 15 min before setting? (Reference the quote two posts above)

    Let the carnage begin...

Sounds great Roger. Wish I could join you. My salmon low-level light has been blinking for weeks. Looking forward to the pix.

    Down wind rough water cavitation

Steve, I would guess that you were getting the prop a little high in the air at times. The combination of short steep waves and trimming the engine up a little may have let a little air in under the permatrim. I don't have permatrims so I have no experience with them-but with twins running...

    hour meter

Pat, You might want to consider one of these: ( I have no idea how to do one of those fancy links) http://mayberrys.com/honda/generator/html/hourmeter.htm. I use one on my 40HP Hondas. Very simple to install under the motor cover with a piece of velcro. They were designed for generators but...

    Navionics NavPlanner

Steve, I don't which chartplotter you have, but I will throw this out just in case. I have a Lowrance and it uses Navionics chips. I bought a chip that covers Vancouver Island. The chip is a compilation of many different charts and in the menu of the chartplotter is a listing with many...

Fuel Pick Up - LONG story

It sounds like there are many different types of fuel pick-ups used in the various models. On the second page of my photo album are pix of the fuel pick-ups that were in my 2002 cruiser. I had to change to new tanks due to one tank cracking. The new tanks came with fuel pick-ups installed and...

    Symbols of our Independence

Charlie, Nice touch with the steel from the twin towers. It does make me proud. It begs the questions: How did you resolve the twins vs single issue?

Roger, Do you predict that we will hit the 4000 mark on registered users about Aug 25th?

    Fishing in Lake Chelan

Chromer, I have never heard that-Everything I have read indicates it is most concentrated in the fat on the belly. I think a lot of people think the brownish-grayish tissue along the lateral line is fat. I have never found a source of reliable information but I don't think it is fat. It...
