    V-berth hatches coating inside hull

When I did mine a few years ago I used two part epoxy and coated the entire bottom area of the hull. I was mixing up batches to do the edges of the cuddy hatch holes, the new lazarette hatch holes, and etc., so I had it handy. Also my boat had one hole drilled too deep under the brass stem...

Has anyone made it out to Beaver Island (Michigan) in a CD?

Been there several times. The public docks are tall for C[Dory's and the harbor is open to the east. If you expect a blow do a four-way tie. There are private docks too with expensive gas. I like the public dock, clean, etc. Good walking around town, nice bike and walking path to a park on the...

    HATCH COVERS IN BERTH

When I did mine a couple years ago I used Tempress hatches. They look similar, may lie even flatter? Regards,

    Boat for Lake superior

If you are only on Lake Superior or almost all the time on the big lake you may be happier with the 23 or 26 Venture or 23 or 26 Cape Cruiser. I see these boats as having some big water advantages, bigger, faster, smoother, bigger cockpit. They are also a bit heavier and more expensive, but for...

    Webasto heaters

Lloyds, I put a 1300 in my 22. I learned a lot from looking at Steve's install on his 25. I mounted mine on the cabinet wall under the sink and put the switch on the dash. Has worked fine for 3? years but not a lot of use. I don't turn it on unless I plan to run it for at least 20 minutes so it...

    new tip for bait subsitute.

I sometimes use herring to fish salmon in the Great Lakes. Use meat rigs with a plastic head and teaser flies behind an attractor. Use whole herring and fillets cut from whole herring. We only get herring frozen of course. Once thawed it gets mushy if refrozen. So I get a pkg of frozen...

    Les Cheneaux Islands

El and Bill, Good Ramp in Hessel and Cedarville but overnight parking not so sure. The launch at Cedarville has a park lot across the street but used to have signs saying no overnight parking. You could launch at Raber and just leave the truck there for a month as you visit these wonderful...

    Northern Michigan Inland Waterway

El and Bill, Fayette is a lot of boater's favorite spot, but it is enough out of the way that it doesn't get a lot of traffic. There is a tie up dock, very well protected, nice walking, beautiful natural scenery, interesting ghost town. No water, no electricity, nice outhouses short walk from...

    Northern Michigan Inland Waterway

PS, As you trailer back across the UP you should visit Fayette by boat, even if you just use the launch a mile away, spend a couple of nights there. Mark

    Northern Michigan Inland Waterway

El and Bill, Have done this lots of times. I much prefer the fall, beautiful color and far less traffic. I go to the straits and/or St. Marys at least once every year in Sept and Oct. A couple of times the Straits area was just too rough so I drop down to the waterway. One fall I trailered to...

North Channel - Georgian Bay - Lake Huron

Hello El and Bill, This topic is too big. Gunkholer's paradise. I have spent more time in the St. Mary's River system than in the NC but all is good. Recommend most highly the Ports Cruising Guide. This is much better than the Lakeland Ports of Call which is okay. The Ports Guide tells you lots...

    C-Dory Abuse

"Can a C-Dory really take this kind of abuse?" Only if they are biting.

    look what followed me home.

Hey Tom and Susan, Congrats on a great match, good job. I think you should keep the 22 for a dinghy. Rumor is that your current dinghy will look out of place on this cruiser :) Mark

3.8 million dollar jury award against Brunswick--be aware

No comment on most of this, sort of speaks for itself. But Pat said "ps: if you find an attorney who finds the content of my statement to be false, i will be happy to treat you to lunch. on the other hand if someone reads this post and profits from it, then all is good!" And being more...

    How big a battery

The biggest draw would be the anchor light if that is incandescent. If you can switch that to an led you should be fine with either a group 24 or 27. Your starting battery is isolated so you should be fine. Not sure that one hour of cruising will charge the house battery all the way back up...

    Using US Army River Charts

Navionics electronic charts have depths. I printed out the USACE charts in color and kept them in a three ring binder to flip the pages. I also used the electronic chart all the time. Just remember it is right descending bank and left descending bank. Great cruising. Mark
