    Simrad RPU80 Pump

Sorry for my delayed response. Finally getting back to this. First of all, thanks for the responses! Hydraulic steering is new to me and so a bit tentative pulling it apart. As this system is pretty old and I'm planning to upgrade the electronics and add AIS, etc, I'm wondering how much to...

    Simrad RPU80 Pump

I did try a direct 12V feed to the motor with no visible or audible effect. I did not try reversing polarity. I did pull the brushes but they looked fine. I was thinking of pulling the motor apart to see if I could free it but am reluctant to disconnect the hydraulics.

    Floor under dinette

Mine also has a floor. The floor is split down the middle with one side providing access to storage underneath via pop up handles and hinges. I don't know if this is from the factory or an enhancement by the previous owner.

    Simrad RPU80 Pump

Hi All, My Tomcat has a AP16 autopilot computer that was not powering up. I found a broken connector on either power or ground and fixed it so the computer powers up now and seems ready to go (already configured and such). Unfortunately, the RPU80 pump seems frozen. I haven't found anything...

Anyone going from Washington to California

If you do need to have the boat hauled, I recommend Billy Keenan. He recently hauled a tomcat trailer for me from Florida to here in WA and I was happy with the fee and service. He's on U Ship but I connected with him thru Marc @ Wefings reducing both my cost and his take. You can reach him at...

    Searching the forums

Thank you both! This is exactly what I was looking for. I somehow had a blind eye for the very prominent 'Enhanced by Google' search at the top of most every page...

    Searching the forums

Hi All, I like to think that I'm pretty Internet savvy and can effectively use search engines but I can't figure out the search engine on this site. How do you search for a phrase? I see that I can search for specific words that must be included but this isn't too helpful when the words are...

    Wind and towing safety

Here's some personal experience: I purchased a single-pole attachment that allows the wt distribution hitch from my camping trailer (similar tongue wt) to work on my tomcat trailer. Even with significant torque on the bars, I didn't see any real difference in the road handling while difference...

PNW 2022, Columbia River and San Juan Islands

I see the chart shows this island as both Hayden and Tomahawk. Perhaps they were 2 islands but at some point the gap was filled to provide vehicle access to Tomahawk. The marina w/ fuel access and most all the boat slips/marinas are on the upstream end.

PNW 2022, Columbia River and San Juan Islands

I fueled at Fred's once and was a bit shocked by the price. I typically carry 2x5 gallon jugs every time I go boating. I fill them at a non-ethanol regular station for ~$2/gal less than the marinas. Hard to do when you're on the water, tho! There is another fuel station on the Portland side of...

PNW 2022, Columbia River and San Juan Islands

We recently motored up the Willamette to Oregon City which is just below the falls (no transit around them) and had no trouble with bridge height. There are some impressive properties (private homes/mansions!) along the way upstream from downtown Portland. Another area for consideration is the...

Boaters Guide - App for exploring the Salish Sea

Do you have a format for the data so that those of us that want to contribute can make it easier for you and include as much of the info you can use as possible?

Boaters Guide - App for exploring the Salish Sea

Love the idea and nice job with the app! Is there a way for others to contribute marina info? I'm spending most of my time on the Columbia right now and would like to help to include the marina info for this area.

Is This Thinking TOO FAR Out of the BOX

I was also looking for a way to see hard objects approaching instead of those I had already gone over. To accomplish this, I took a page out of the book that pontoon boats use for fishing and rigged a mount for an inexpensive fish finder transducer (still has CHIRP) for the front of our Tomcat...

    TC255 battery replacement recommendation

Our 2006 TomCat was upgraded by the original owner (Gene Morris) some time ago. There are 4 AGM's for the house and an AGM for each motor. the 4 AGM's are in the port cabinet next to the door and the motor bat's are behind the fridge. Gene also installed an inverter/charger under the aft dinette...

    Reefmadness TC255 for Sale

I am happy to admit that I'm the lucky one that landed Reefmadness! I'm so incredibly lucky that, unbeknownst to me, my wife worked out the deal with Gene and surprised me with the purchase! Karin (my wonderful partner) had hoped to keep this secret until Christmas (I might have noticed parked...
