Use it or lose it: kicker woes

You and me both. My 3.3 Mercury 2 stroke (I think actually made by Tohatsu if you look inside) has been completely submerged twice in salt water since I've owned it (oops). I removed the carb, cleaned it out at home, emptied the gas tank, removed the spark plug, covered everything good with...

    Proper Gas Dock Edicate

Wow...Around here they would move you right off the dock - there would be none of that nonsense with a line of boats waiting to get fuel/pump out. I agree the boater was totally inconsiderate of course. If I were mad enough I would probably tie right off to his boat, walk across, and request...

    Advise on selling a Boat

Good advice from some pro's above. I would include more pictures of fun if you can - fishing - people aboard - fun place (i.e. your vessel in a cove on a nice day). Write what the design is good for - fishing - gunkholing - day on the water with the kids, etc. Note the low capacity tow...

Ditto...engine trimmed up too high. Trim it level or down and adjust from that point for desired ride.

    Minks in my C Dory!

Don't you mean you want advice on how to GET minx onto your C-Dory? Oh wait a minute, you're referring to the other kind. Ha ha - sorry that was a lay up! Bottom line will be a cover to prevent it. Perhaps others can suggest other remedies.

    RACOR Fuel Filter

I have never added fuel or bleed my system and I change my fuel filters at the start of every season. The fuel pumps seem to do their job pretty quickly.

    COLD Lake Ontario

I went swimming in Lake Michigan once and it was a bit chilly but doable. It's such a crazy concept to be able to body surf waves on a lake. (Of course these may as well be oceans).

    Dinghy registation questions

In MA, anything with an engine needs to be registered. I've never been stopped but I go ahead and get them registered to cover my bases.

    RACOR Fuel Filter

Very common problem....here's a solution. Stick metal bowl firmly in vice (don't bend it though). Take a giant pipe wrench - i.e. 18" long - grab a hold and twist it off. This works for me every time. You will never get it off with an oil filter wrench. I coat the rubber gasket with motor...

    Dead Battery?

I had the same experience. I have been stubborn though and now use pliers to twist the wing nuts down snug. They have not come loose since. Definitely better to use proper nuts with lock washers.

Napoleon---Have a few questions about Boston Harbor.

Would be happy to, I will be there too. You have basically two options for where you want to park to watch the fireworks. You can go through the Gridley Locks into the Charles River to watch the fireworks up close. They set them off from a barge in the Charles River and most people drop...

I also spotted a Ranger R25 in the harbor...perhaps last weekend.

    TomCat steering hydraulic fluid spray

Teleflex has been extremely generous and has offered me excellent customer service on this issue. I had a run of bad luck and they did good. First pump failed first season...2nd pump failed end of last season (season 3). They sent me a beefier model and new rams as I mentioned and I wanted...

My oberservations after my first ride on a C-25 and Tomcat

Your ride will depend on your load relative to the seas as you know. I guarantee you will also go into some seas expecting a slam and get nothing - float right over. If I am loaded heavy with gear, passengers of fluids (i.e. full fuel adds 900 lbs and full water adds 240 lbs) it will ride...
