    C-Dory 16 Angler Purchase Advice

$36,000.US does sound a bit high but it does appear 'As new' and it is rigged with quality components. No bow rail? I would hope the ladder is detachable. A brat down the road from me(Lono) paid $26,000. CAN for one 10 years ago. It was a beauty with a 50hp. They never were cheap! Sometimes...

    Good place for fire extinguisher?

When stored upright the vibration and pounding on a boat can pack the powder in the bottom. It is advised to inspect and shake your extinguisher on a regular basis.

    insurance and lithium batteries

I didn't originally read the comments or even the entire article. He did make some good points though - such as yachts being built to high standards with the big problem being the toys and gadgets supplied/installed/used and charged by the owners and their guests. Also that when compared to FLA...

    Keeping critters out

I have seen frisbies used on dock lines and shore power cords. Keep boat clean of any lingering food crumbs or smells. I have watched an otter on the swim platform of a fishing boat trying to get up the transom. Wash down and sanitize after a fishing trip.

    House Battery Circuit Breaker

Ken, I would concur with Bob and personally I would use a breaker in your application as well. My invertor/charger(Trace SW2512mc) was installed with a class T fuse(Edison TJN250) which I believe is a fast blow fuse and perhaps as much to protect the invertor as the wiring. Lucky I have not...

    House Battery Circuit Breaker

Some high amp house loads such as an invertor are also required to be fused within so many(?) inches of the battery. I forget the exact spec.

    Honda's new Generator

I don't know how well it would work with the Moeller tanks but when we used to go for longer trips on Lake Erie and had to carry extra jerry cans we would jam a knee against the side and crack the vent to let some air out. When you closed the vent it would leave the sides concaved. If this was...

    Honda's new Generator

I suspect if one of the check marks on the build sheet for this was to meet the 50 state emissions requirement then it may have a VOPR type cap as used on some boats. The tank must maintain atmospheric pressure(no pressure or vacuum). These caps only allow air in when a vacuum situation arises...
