Bill and El Fiero (Halcyon, Halcyon Days website and book)

Many of us started out C-BRATS time with those two and their posts. The way they shrugged off things like one motor kicking the bucket, the minor travails with the truck, the years of carrying the Porta-Potti bottom up ramps to empty, and the grace shown when it was time to move back on land and...

Even if many of us never get to follow your wakes, we were all awaken by your sharing. Thanks so much. Welcome home. Bob Jarrard in Nevada

    Logistics of Truck Camper/Boat Combo

I use a bed liner, it grips like crazy but adds a lot of weight and if water gets under, can start rust. I much prefer Line-X spray in bed liner - the absolute best by my book. Here are some links to other ways to lock in the camper: Torklift tiedowns and brackets at https://www.torklift.com/rv...

    Logistics of Truck Camper/Boat Combo

The only thing I do worse than play golf is back down trailers. I use a front hitch on my 2006 smaller frame Tundra and can park my 24 huge cargo trailer like it was a 8' utility trailer. I strongly suggest that over taking the camper off but also, a good tow strap for the first launch from the...

Advice on mooring my boat for the summer

Well I smeared the zinc stuff all over my rear end, not one BareNuckle but the prop and lower end are a mess. Watch out where you sit if you follow my example, that stuff will leak out of your shorts all over everything. I am a big fan of some of the anti-fouling treatments for below water metal...

    What is this?

Thar she blow Matey, it is a rod holder that can double as fishing net holder, a gaff holder, a baby outrigger, and one I forgot, a beer can carrier! Gotta love being a C-BRAT! Bob

    What is this?

For a life ring, a strobe, a Bremer Sea Swing Stove, a fish net, a boat hook, a tie off for a spring or bow line, a part of a hoist mast, and I do not have any idea. Bob

Anyone ever look at a stabicraft 2500 ultracab xl

Apart from riding on rails and not pounding, the wide side decks with toe under kick on the cockpit base means no need for handrails and you are super well secure in the boat. For cranking up a halibut, you can really use the extra height if you are careful with the rod against metal. It is a a...

    Battleborns and ?

I agree that any single channel can only cover so much sample size but Will is quick to notice when products do not live up to the reviews and use of a larger sample size. First or premiering reviewers of all products have this issue. Battle Born would be my first choice if money was no object...

Anyone ever look at a stabicraft 2500 ultracab xl

Like all boating choices, first needs and then wants. At the lodge we went to pure novices are set loose on their own for five days in a row to figure out hoe to boat and fish with no guide. I found the StabiCraft perfect for the challenging conditions and long distances we traveled at 25-30 MPH...

Anyone ever look at a stabicraft 2500 ultracab xl

Not a C-22 but we used a StabiCraft at Doc Warner's in Excursion Bay. Alaska and we ran into square waves (90 hp Yammie) and I have never seen a boat handle the water so well. we went out and back 30-45 mile or further every day in often nasty stuff, no water on board other than wind blown minor...

    Battleborns and ?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SU86EJXcTMM Bob Jarrard PS: Battle Born are great batteries, local in Reno, but $$$$$$ Follow Will's vids, her knows his stuff. My suggestion is solar panels, good charge/controller, SOK battery (I like the 200 amp at $1000), a Honda 2000i or 2200i, shore power...

Hate to preach but (funny thing for a pastor to say but...)

-- Well, after searching the web for an hour I can safely say that the various rules for Mead by the overlapping governmental agencies (I did not mention Powell) are more than confusing. There is one place where it says "No signaling devices are required on Nevada waters." but then again in...

Hate to preach but (funny thing for a pastor to say but...)

Bob, I went back to my files and saw that you are right about the rules sorta - I have a 13 foot tinny and when I registered the boat here in Nevada I asked about what the regulations where on Mead both there at the State office and later at the Lake with the Rangers. I just checked the Nevada...

Hate to preach but (funny thing for a pastor to say but...)

-- I did not look further into the incident so do not know if there were other factors but I can tell you that just the heat at Powell can reduce your ability to think, I spent two weeks there on a small houseboat with no AC and I did not move too much in the middle of the day other than into...

Hate to preach but (funny thing for a pastor to say but...)

A Lake Powell boater is dead after jumping into the lake to assist his child who was struggling to stay above the water. California resident Phil Chiang, 49, rented a ski boat at Wahweap Marina on Thursday for a day touring the lake with his family, according to a release from Glen Canyon...

Wahweap launch Ramp at Lake Powel is down past the concrete

You may have more than a few feet of gravel only at the end of the Wahweap launch ramp. Better have 4x4 or a back up vehicle with a good tow set up. Bob Jarrard

    C-dory 25 or 26 tow weight question.

Yup, Jim has the math down. Check out his blog and see a motor home towing a small sedan towing a cargo trailer that has two gas scooters, two electric bikes, an electric scooter, and some serious "cat stuff" in the payload. His Big Red was a very nice truck. If I bought a C-25, I would pop for...
