New camperback - a few detail questions for the gang....

My last comment, I'm going to be gone for a week. I would consider refiguring your bimini frame to store forward against the cabin roof top. It must be an enormous PIA to remove the whole thing and carry it in a vehicle. Are you getting a road cover? I wouldnt be without one. 't keeps...

    Cruising, Lake Powell Style

We encountered one of these jackasses at Powell. It certainly not what we were there for. Carpy

New camperback - a few detail questions for the gang....

My canvas fits into one bag which I suspend from the berth ceiling with bungee cords. I added an eye gizmo to the through bolts that are there for the cleats and rail. It stow against the ceiling and does not interfere with sleeping. The bimini has a cover and laches to the cabin roof rails...

The canvas does attach to the stern table on Carpy. We leave the tray in place all the time. There are 4 twist fasteners to hold it. The tray is mounted on a bar that spans the splashwell and stays firmly in place. I questioned attaching it here too, but there was really no other way to have...

New camperback - a few detail questions for the gang....

Sounds like you have gotten some good advice, here's my 2cents: Zippers on both sides at the cabin roof are essential for both egress and access to the cabin roof. We store things there. Have the canvas extend past the lazaretts. Our original King Canvas top ended at the motor well. We...

Oil and oil filters on a Honda 50 EFI

I use Sierra filters in my BF40's Like Bob mentioned, I change the oil at 100 hr intervals and change the filter every other time or at least every fall. Every fall I change the fuel and oil filters, spark plugs, and lower unit oil and look for anything else that needs attention. The 40's...

    Streaks in Gel Coat

3M Finesse It, a buffing compound, has worked wonders for me. 3M Imperial Hand Glaze is a milder compound and is good too. You can use them by hand if your joints are up to it or with a power buffer. They are available at auto stores and auto paint shops. Carpy

    09/04 - 09/07 - Mississippi River Gathering

Paul & Joni, Our truck crapped out on the the way out of town last year. Undeterred, we came by car (sans boat) and had a fine time seeing our c-buddies. It was not quite the same, but a fun time nonetheless. Unfortunately, we won't be there this year, My son has chosen 9/6 for his wedding...

    vintage runabouts

The Wolverine is very similar to the Yellow Jacket in my pics. The hull was made of laminated birch plies. They were very strong and many of them are still in use. A company in Canada made the hulls, bundled them without transoms and shipped them to boat builders all over the country who...

    Our solar panel experience

I have the PWM ( don't know what that means) controller. Works well for my purposes. The panel is mounted on a roof top storage rack with screws and fender washers through the factory mounting holes. It did fine at highway speeds. Carpy

    Cooking on board

I had a magma grill and have found it to be wanting in so many ways! Apologies to all you magma fans, but mine is on the scrap pile. I have a platform over the motor well on which I set a coleman fold and go grill, and also a single gas burner . We cook extensively on Carpy and I have found...

    Solar Panel Advice

My Renogy panel is sitting in the Hoosier sun with no issues so far. It is completely open underneath. I think an air space is a very good idea. As far as the cost: My panel, controller and wire cost less than $250. Carpy

    Our solar panel experience

I purchased the Renogy 100 watt "bendable" solar panel for Carpy. It is mounted on the top on the latest version of my roof rack. It is about 1/4 inch thick and weighs less than 3 lbs. The controller is very small and easily fit in the galley cabinet. The whole system cost less than $250. It...
