Factory option suggestions for new boats

Maybe it has already been addressed in newer boats but a better step system for getting into and out of the cockpit. An opening window in the door. Slightly taller bow rail.

free download for a basic office suite for windows 8

Anyone have any recommendations for a trusted site to download a free, basic office program. There are lots of free downloads out there but I don't want to download a bugged one.

Launch in Blaine vs Bellingham to cruise San Juan's

The free parking and agreeable folks at the port are what swings it for me at Bellingham. Great place to launch for extended cruising. But the bay can be a bear. Last time across I was picking kelp off my radar arch from waves coming over the top.

Jump start "battery" in a pocket

I was just down at my favorite battery store and one of the techs has one. It comes in a case about the size of one for a cd player, with all the cords and alligator clips. He hooked it up to a honda pilot that had a completely dead battery and it started right up. If I hadn't seen it I...

cleaning the outside of the door

On my boat it is, I believe, the starboard material. It isn't the vinyl. I will try the simple green first and see what happens. Never have tried the magic erasers, but that will be next, if necessary, thanks.

cleaning the outside of the door

The cockpit side of the door in my 1996 22' has gotten some mildew on it from sitting all winter covered. Anyone have a miracle cure to remove the mildew. I had some fiberglass cleaner sitting nearby and tried that but it didn't phase it. Somewhat afraid to try a clorox solution.

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

finally finished installing the new steering cable. Probably wouldn't try it again. The opening in the splashwell is too tight and pulling the starboard engine would make it easier, but who has an engine hoist at home. So Had to enlarge the hole, and it was still really difficult. Threading...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Thought about doing that but it is a clear shot front to back and as stiff as the cable is it ought to just shove through. Probably wishful thinking. I did order one of those fittings to add lubricant to the tube. We will see how well that works.

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

In general, go along the cable, taking off the dozens of wire ties. Then I started at the engine end. unscrewed the nut that holds the cable in. Ended up also unscrewing the nut on the starboard end of the tilt tube, because of the twins configuration there isn't room for the cable to clear...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

As my steering was becoming unbearingly difficult to turn and no amount of oils or solvents would bring relief any longer I decided to yard it out and replace the helm and cable. Got it all out. Going to be a pain to put it back in as I have twins and there isn't much room to work. Will take...

Good fishing around Vancouver island and BC coast.

Trailering to bamfield isn't something I would recommend. I have done it twice (slow learner). It is way too hard on people and equipment. I think this year I am going to run the boat up the west coast to bamfield. There is excellent fishing near bamfield in July.

technique for launching a c dory?

I always get stuff squared away while at the dock, but out of the way. As for launching, I back in till the winch stand is right at the water line then I undo the chain and the winch, tie the end of the painter around the winch stand then back down a few feet more and hit the brakes and it...

Anyone tried Poli Glow on the stripes?

Five years ago when I bought my 1996 boat it was dull looking so I took it to a professional detailer nearby and he used a product called "Optimum Car Wax" by OPU. It came out great. And five years later it still looks pretty good. The brow is oxidized again but overall looks good. Now I...

My King has served me well. 4 years come february, same bearings, same tires, and no problems. But like everyone who has one mentions, the fenders are junk.
