    Shrimp bait

We got to the point in the San Juans where we only set traps for the 90 minute window to right before slack tide, to right after.... so for the majority of the time that trap is fishing there's no water moving. It made that much of a difference. Also we found honey holes in spots that had quite...

Looking to buy 1990 22 Cruiser questions

I think you'd need a sea trial to decide if 60 hp is enough for you. Many folks here like to cruise along at a slower pace almost all the time. For them, its a pretty good price. I like to smash around in the mid 20s fully loaded for camping, so this motor wouldn't work for me. I'd also be...

    Prep for bottompaint

I think your spot on with your planning. I wouldn't bother with the gelcoat, unless you don't want bottom paint at all. The epoxy should seal off the repairs. I don't sand all the ablative paint off. Ill usually blast with a pressure washer all the loose bits off, and then sand down and rough up...

    Transom molding coming off.

I used black life seal as Bob suggested. The molding was not only coming up, it was also warped. I used a heat gun to straighten it out so it would lay flat. I drilled out each of the screw holes and used a small cutting bur drill bit to hollow out a cavity and filled with thickened epoxy and...

    Used C-Dorys selling fast!

That's great news, and I saw a post from NMI on facebook yesterday that they are getting a huge number of new orders across the different lines they produce. Seems like the marine industry is having a resurgence!

Water under cockpit floor- is this normal?

We own a 2007 22' cruiser and had water under the raised cockpit floor as you describe. It came from the seem where the cabin bulkhead meets the raised floor. Once I was sure I had all the water out of there, I sealed it back up with 3M 4200. Its been fine since then. I think that seem is...

    Floating boat storage

That's true Bob. I was just thinking how bass boats often do it at the launch. Not backing into the water all that far and using the engine to power on and off the bunks. I personally don't trust the lumber on the trailer bunks enough to choose that route, but have done it before with no...

    Floating boat storage

It sounds no different than powering on/off a bunk trailer. A lot of us do that at the boat launch and the hull is strong enough to handle it. Bottom paint can get scuffed up this way if you have it, but its easily touched up.

    2021 spot shrimp

Bolt decision requires 50% of the potential catch go to tribes. WDFW has to manage for that. Spot shrimp have become increasingly popular both recreationally and as a wholesale product that can retail over $20 a pound. Tribes have been gearing up to get their piece of the pie (as they should)...

    2021 spot shrimp

Ahhh Leque island, I had the pleasure of meeting the owners and discussing this project before I got the hell out of there. Its amazing the good ol boys built that dike over 100 years ago with minimal equipment and it cost nothing. For some reason it takes a million dollars to move some earth in...

Non Boating C-Brat Logistical NE corner help

Hey Pat, did you really make it to the NW corner without going to Neah Bay? Im just messing! Im following along on your journey, what a great adventure. I just sold my Harley and put a deposit down on a 2022 Chief dark horse, and in the meantime have been riding the wife's Indian while I wait...

    2021 spot shrimp

Tom those are Canadian shrimp. With the border closure they cant enter into area 6 and 7, duh  I was reluctantly involved in a few of those farm land conversions to mudflats. They breach the levies and leave the once fertile and productive farmland a muddy wasteland. While they were...

    2021 spot shrimp

Remember when we used to shrimp all summer long in area 7 west? Yeah those were the days. Limiting to such small time windows means ramps are overcrowded and people making unsafe decisions to get their one chance. I've seen and experienced a few of those off Camano Island on some of those short...

The doubling of boat sales excise tax in the state of WA.

It just gets weirder and weirder out there.

C-22 without shore power - will I regret it? Easy to add?

We have shore power and Ive never used it in all these years. Our lights we use at night use very little power, and we tend to anchor out more than stay in marinas. That being said, if you have a bunch of power hungry accessories like a refrigerator, microwave, A/C all that stuff, it might be...

    Florida Crabbing

Hey Colby, we loved catching Dungeness living in the northwest, so it was only natural to get into crabbing when we moved down here. Ill just give my observations and you can take from it what you want.... First on gear. The pots that fish the best have two chambers. The crabs crawl inside the...

    Our new (to us) C-Dory

I know that boat, I was following along with Loren while he fixed that one up before we moved from Savannah.. it turned out awesome!! Congrats on the purchase! That should serve you well for many years. When we bought our c-dory it wasn't cheap but the memories we've made on it over the years...
