    Trailer Tires

Jack, We had a similar wear problem with our tires (King Trailer). With less than 1000 miles on the trailer, the right front was nearly worn through on the outside edge with the rear not far behind. Gary gave good advice, check that axle alignment! Our problem was caused by an out-of-round...

    07/15 - 07/17 Blakely Island

We really wanted to make this cruise, made reservations, had a slip assignment, everything was in place. Then my wife had to have emergency shoulder surgery, all went well but (no cruising for us for the next three months). Have a great time and post lots of pictures!

    AFT Canvas cover

Porgy Man, We just completed installing a King Marine top on our 25 and are very satisfied with the results. The rail that the top attaches to is installed at the rear lip of the hardtop (riveted in place with stainless 1/8" rivets). Next, the main bow is located on the side of the gunnel...

    wallas pot holders

There are two pot holders that came with our stove; we've never needed to use them, so I don't know how necessary they are. You will love the stove!!!

    Downriggers on a 25

Another thought, we have our Scottys mounted on Scotty gunnel mounts, forward of the rails, on our 25. The booms extend but we've not needed the additional length. No problems so far (one seasons use). They can be removed easily and quickly.

    Our Real World CD25 Numbers

Most recent Halibut trip (Newport,OR) yielded 30.4 Gallons burned in 98 miles in the open ocean. Conditions varied, Friday 6/3 in sloppy waters (6 ft. Swells and 2 ft wind chop): Saturday 6/4 waters mostly smooth (1-3 swells). We had two on board and loaded with full fuel and water.

    07/15 - 07/17 Blakely Island

Wow, We're finally going to make one of these gatherings instead of just looking at the pictures and reading the posts. Norma assigned us to A-13 (45 ft. dock to be shared with others). Can't wait to meet some of the great members of this site! :D

    Shower leak on 25

Fred, When I first examined our shower door (last Summer), it appeared that a double seal extending around the bottom and up the sides about three inches might be the best answer. The shower doors on all of the 25's that I've seen have the same problem of excess clearance at the door base...

    Shower leak on 25

There is nothing special about this fix, just a Sunbrella cover (matches the interior of course) for the inside of the shower door. We have one but never use it, Buck (no longer with C-Dory) tweaked the door and installed a new seal that corrected the problem. The cover is just for insurance.

The high price of Honda parts

Price a Yamaha connector through a Yamaha dealer; same deal you get at the Honda dealer. All OEM parts (purchased through the dealer)regardless of brand name are expensive.

    Water System Problem on CD25

Pat, Make sure that the drain from the hot water tank is closed, then open the sink faucet (hot and cold). You should hear the pump run as it seeks prime and also air coming from the faucet fixture. It sometimes takes several minutes in our boat to evacuate the air in the system. Good luck...

    Cats on boats

We took our cat (Tigger a diabetic) on a three week cruise last September and all went well. However, we have since adopted our daughters cat (Ozzy) and have some concerns about about an extended cruise (with the two cats) from Port Townsend to Prince Rupert planned for this June and July...

    Seeking Red Salmon

I'm envious of you guys up North. Red Salmon are the best but we don't have any in sunny Oregon (with the exception of their fresh water cousins-Kokanee).

    Kicker Redux

Pat, Go with the engine that has the largest displacement. Cubic inches = torque and torque is king when controlling a large (25) dory in less than favorable conditions. You guys must be really excited (we were in the same holding pattern one year ago). Keep the posts coming, everyone enjoys...

    Kicker?

Pat, If you need a get-home motor only and wind, waves or current are not a concern, then any long shaft motor on a bracket should work. We fish our 25 off the Oregon coast and the extra displacement of the 15 Honda, extra long shaft, swinging a larger power thrust prop makes the difference for...

    c-dory verse sea sport

A better comparison to the Sea Sport 24 would be the CD 25 or the olympic 24. The C-Dory 25 compares favorably with the Sea Sport 24 (Explorer) in almost every category you listed except speed. If more speed is a better fit, the Olympic 24 is a hard combination to beat. With less deadrise...

Dennis and Georgia, Welcome to C-Dory world! Now the spending will really begin; not to mention the anxiety of the wait.

    25 cruiser fuel consumption?

Wade, "Real world milage" for us has been between 3 and 4 MPG, depending on sea, wind and current conditions. Thats with about 70 gal. of fuel, two adults, two cats and a fair amount of gear (three week cruise). Our prop is a propulse set at 16 pitch (variable) which delivers about 5900 RPM...
