    Automatic fenders anyone??

I got my "trophy wife" 40+ years ago when she was less expensive than today's models. So far it was a great move! How about keeping the wife but getting a young crew member to put the fenders out? Think that would work?

    Miss our c-dory

EVERY boat is a compromise. When I would get out in Haro Strait and a 3 ft chop would cause me to slow down in the 23 Venture I would think about ripping home in those conditions and more, taking the 23 Boston Whaler Conquest airborne at 45 mph and laughing as she landed. When I think about all...

    Need An anchor.

Just replaced the 15lb claw that came with our new Ranger Tug with a ROCNA 10. The claw worked great on the Venture 23 but that was a chrome plated one and it was sharper than the standard galvanized so seemed to set faster. I was also concerned about the boat displacement of the tug. Take a...

    Radar, AIS and autopilot

Currently running Garmin 7610xsv with integrated radar and AIS300. I do get collision alarms that I can customize for both radar and AIS if I want. In clear weather I have the alarm off but it's very helpful to see that track of a ferry or freighter appear showing a little sinking boat icon at...

    2008 C-Dory Venture 23" for sale

The analogy is that it is a motor home compared to a tent. That's good news and both. There are a LOT more systems and so a lot more thinks to take care of and spend time on. Things I really like: ".............. I started writing this and have just edited. I don't want to start a...

    2008 C-Dory Venture 23" for sale

We recently sold our 2008 23 Venture and I still miss many things about her. Great boat! Is this a Venture or a Cape Cruiser?

My apologies but I just bought the replacement filters at Sherwood Marine in Saanich. Don't know the part number.

Do you use dual Racor spin on type fuel/ water separator?

Hi Boris, as a removal aid you may want to try my homemade removal "tool" that you can see in my photo album. Just fit the 'tool' in a vice or similar and it will hold the sediment bowl while you use a strap wrench or whatever on the filter.

    FCC Licenses for International Cruising

I confess that I also truly find it amazing that a mariner would operate a vessel without an MMSI number entered and the DSC enabled. As Chimo is a Canadian vessel and I do enter US waters from time to time I am obligated to obtain a licence. I just renewed mine covering my radio and radar...

    Maybe an interesting item

Hi folks, I saw a post on Tugnuts for an interesting endoscope. The writer there is using one to check out bottom paint condition, zincs etc because like many of us who keep the boat in the water year round pulling out for inspection or hiring a diver is expensive. The unit seems quite cheap...

Water Under Aft Cockpit in 07 Venture

I stand corrected. Thank you. Fortunately both seem to have made excellent boats.

Water Under Aft Cockpit in 07 Venture

I can't give you a specific year, only tell you about our 2008 Venture 23. This was a Fluid Marine boat and an actual Venture, not a Cape Cruiser. It was kept in the water since new. We bought the boat new and I was concerned about this issue having read the thread on C-Brats. I talked with...

Health insurance when traveling in Canada...what do you do?

Absolutely correct! As a Canadian who has lived 20 years in the States I have an interesting perspective. I know that I pay my MSP premiums and get good health care coverage. I have Medicare basic coverage if visiting my southern friends because I paid into that system. I also know from family...
