Possibly a Must Have Feature for All Boaters

YUP, I'm keeping my PLB, and for the price of that I-PHONE and "gadgetry" you can by 2 brand new ACR PLBs and no activation or annual fees. Also agree, they are much more tested and reliable. I used the SPOT for several years with great results. Harvey SleepyC :moon

    Legend has passed

A good friend and fellow C-BRAT called me this morning to see if I had seen the post about Roger. I had not. (It has been way to long since I have been on the site – but that’s a story for another time.) I thanked him and said I would look it up. I remember the first time I met Roger, It...

    Sandys counterclockwise circumnavigation Vancouver Island

Hi Sandy, Thanks for posting those numbers. Loved the fuel one. Would have loved it more if you had squeezed in 0.2 more gallons somewhere  Great trip and glad you made it. I agree that he inReach has to be in the top of the list for most essential. Harvey SleepyC :moon

Aluminum trailer weight vs galv for a Cdory 22..?

Yes, my trailer is galvanized. Sorry I missed that. And it is not the one in the pix, but theay are near twins, only difference is the tandem vs single axel. Totally agree, for towing more than just short hops to the marina, you will appreciate the tandem. Harvey SleepyC :moon The Current...

BC Inside Passage on the David B Adventure

John, Thanks for the great writeup and pix. What a great trip. And yes, the David B does get around. I have seen it up along the East side of Vancouver Island and also, I believe, it was in either Friday Harbor or Port Townsend. What a great way to get to cruise the real inside passage...

BC Inside Passage on the David B Adventure

If you are looking at going north from the San Juans, there is a former C-BRAT who has extensive experience doing just that, multiple times. Sam Landsman had a 22 Cruiser, Retriever, that he did both SE and BC coast and also a Vancouver Island circumnavigation on. He currently does...

Aluminum trailer weight vs galv for a Cdory 22..?

I have a Pacific Tandem trailer with 2 long bunks and 2 short ones, and short side bunks. Kodiak SS brakes on all 4 wheels, and a single spare tire mounted to the winch post. The scaled weight on the empty trailer is right at 1100 pounds. Harvey SleepyC :moon

    The passing of Queen Elizabeth

I grew up in Canada, Sidney mostly, jut out of Victoria. In 1957, the Queen came to BC for the British Columbia Centennial celebration. I was just a little squirt, so I probably looked cute, (might be the only time  sitting on the parapet at the end of a very long concrete railing in...

Well, Sorry to be late to the party, but better late than never. I did have to read that op first line twice before I continued breathing. I want to say Thankyou to Bob for his input here, sharing and teaching. It has been worth every key stroke, to many. So Thank you, and all the best on...

    Loading on Trailer

AS Bob says, it depends. Every ramp is different. What does not change is the amount --read depth -- of water to float the boat. It is mentioned in several posts, to use the trailer fenders as a marker. That will vary from trailer to trailer but not a variable on you boat and trailer combo...

BC Inside Passage on the David B Adventure

John, Thanks for that link. I got sidetrack on the parts about Port Harvey. I have not been up there this summer, (I did meet with the Port Harvey Yacht Club at Port Hardy -- but I cruised up the island in one day on my motorcycle, due to time constraints and some other obligations) but that...

    Sandys counterclockwise circumnavigation Vancouver Island

9-4-22 1954 GN Sandy, Thnx 4 the note. Glad you had the IR with U. Makes for more than just watching. Hey, been there, 100 days with almost no outside contact in many places was a long time. I did run into the occasional boat, and on those long stretches and it was always nice to connect --...

Compared to a C-Dory, There is no comparison. But then that is just mine, and a few other people here's opinion. BTW, Jim said it very well. Harvey SleepyC :moon
