    Cockpit scupper broken and lost

Forgot to mention. Don't forget to replace the hoses and clamps. Your boat is 10 years old and it'll be a lot easier to take apart. Boris

    Cockpit scupper broken and lost

The short answer is yes, the Marine East Boat Thru Hull 6740w 1 1/2" will fit. The one that LesR mentioned will fit also and it's part metal. Your choice. Boris

    Sandys counterclockwise circumnavigation Vancouver Island

OK, Sandy's trip is almost over so lets bring this up again. He has just left Peddar Bay, headed, I suppose, to Vancouver. Non-stop to Peddar from Bamfield, so it's been a long trip. Congratulations and a trip well done!!!!!! Boris

Now on the Oil Bath Bandwagon

Nice to see you're still traveling Dora-Jean. I'm not. Not going to get into the debate of oil vs grease. But here is my experience. Single axle trailer with a sailboat on it. Grease in bearings. No brakes. No trouble. Several trips to Mexico. 10 years use. Dual axle trailer with 25'...

    Sandys counterclockwise circumnavigation Vancouver Island

Sandy, Torino is for fish farmers and campers, transient boats can go suck a hot rock. We were on the long dock for a couple of days, being elbowed by the fishermen. Uclculet (sp) is a different kettle of fish. Haven't been to Bamfield, so don't know what it's like. You're close to the end...

    16 vs 19 vs 22

I've noticed that the original poster, wdr99, posted only this thread in 2016 and not since. Just out of curiosity does anybody know if he bought another boat, non-C-Dory, gave up the idea or what? This isn't about the thread, but about wdr99. A lot of people seem to have questions about...

    Sandys counterclockwise circumnavigation Vancouver Island

Sandy, God bless you. You made the trip I wanted to and anything you want to do is OK with me. My suggestions are only suggestions and you get to plan your own trip. It's been a great one. It's a long haul to Victoria. Make sure your gas tank is topped off. BTW, you're listed as having a...

    So. Many. C-Dorys.

We met Dave and Ruth on Raven Dancer in Deer Harbour several years ago. Nice people who we saw again at Stuart Island. If they read this, Journey On is the C-Dory 25 with the vent fan in the head. Still working, doing good. Boris

    Sandys counterclockwise circumnavigation Vancouver Island

Sandy, 2 things. First, let's bring this post back up to the top. Next, when you reach internet again , hurry up and get to Barkley Sound. Don't want you rushing through, so much to see. ISLANDS in the north, Indian camps, yachting outposts and even Uclulet for a day. I will admit that where you...

    Trim tab hydraulic rams

What sort of boat? C-Dory, I assume. 22? 25? On a 22 they were aftermarket, so could be anything. On 25 they came stock. Mine, a 25, has bennett. Boris

    Sandys counterclockwise circumnavigation Vancouver Island

Sandy, when we went from Hot Springs we took the back channels to Tofino; a great cruise. Plenty of places Watch the markers. Though this comment may be a day late. When we made it up then down to Ucluelet, we explored Barkley Sound and found it fascinating, especially amongst the islands...

Trailer brakes pads stick to disk

Run the trailer. One revolution of that wheel will fix that. I too have pads that stick to the wheel, but they free up when I tow the trailer. Or, you could reach in there and pry the pad off the disk. Salt water does that. Boris

    Sandys counterclockwise circumnavigation Vancouver Island

Sandy, stop by Nootka, now shown on charts as Yuquot, even if just for a few hours. It was the only Northwest port for years. The Spanish started it, Capt Cook visited it and it was a main trading point. It's got a long pebbly beach and everything is down by the pier. There's also Bligh...

    Sandys counterclockwise circumnavigation Vancouver Island

Sandy is now docked at Zeballos. I hope he enjoys the fish plant. That's the only business in town since the logging industry took a hit. It'll be easy downwind from now; one trip from Nootka down to Hot Springs Cove and then it gets even easier (we hope.) Congratulations, Sandy. Boris

    Sandys counterclockwise circumnavigation Vancouver Island

Hello, Sandy! I'm proud of you. Your track shows you made it down the coast to Catala Island. Good for you. I assume the rough part of the trip is nearly through. At least, you can make it through to Nootka by the back channels which, I assume will be easier. Now you can visit Zeballos or...

    TomCat towing length?

When we trailered Journey On from Vancouver to Nanmio, we were asked for the overall length. When we said we weren't sure they said the length we gave them would be the length they used. No measurement then or when we loaded on the ferry. I would not sweat the dimension but give them your...

    Sandys counterclockwise circumnavigation Vancouver Island

Sandy, don't hurry down the coast. Take you're time and you'll see some wonderful sights such as Nootka, where Cpn Cook landed. I know you've seen a lot of the eastern part of Vancouver Isle, but it's hard to get to the west side and please enjoy it whilst you're there. We took Journey On to...

    Tom cat motor alignment problem

Journey On has but a single motor. However, when the motor is tilted up and centered, it will gradually tilt to one side or another. To me, this indicates that the hydraulic system has a leak through the drive cylinder or the check valves or somewhere. It's just life. I solved the problem by...
