    09/24 - 09/26 - North Carolina, 4th Annual

Sounds good to us Tracy. Pam mentioned earlier today that is has been quite a while since we last visited Steamer's. We'll bring a roaster full of baked beans on Friday if that's agreeable to everyone.

Lifting power of the C-Dory hull.

Yep. Did the same thing a couple years ago. Your luck is better than mine though. Normally if I screw up there are 312 people pointing & laughing. On the other hand when all goes well nobody is there to see it. Sagebrush blowing around... :D:D:D

    09/24 - 09/26 - North Carolina, 4th Annual

Count Pam & I in Tracy! I just signed up for the event. Do you have a schedule online somewhere? I assume it is too late to order T-shirts. If not I would like one large and one medium. (perhaps I need to visit the forum more often!) Thanks!

    A friend from Oriental, NC...

I spoke with James earlier this evening... Marc ~ James said he has seen the boat but has not met Fox (yet). Tracy ~ I told James you mentioned him and wished him all the best. Nick ~ I agree. In 1985 I separated my right shoulder & broke my right collar bone. Most painful experience in my...

    A friend from Oriental, NC...

Update on James... As previously posted I spoke with James on Saturday, February 14th. While we were talking a lady on a nearby boat asked James if he wanted a ride to the grocery store. James accepted the offer and told me he would call me back later. Several days later I realized James...

Tracy ~ Don't fry it. Just put it on toast with mayo, cheese and tomato. There is NO comparison between bologna and lebanon bologna. That is like comparing a VW to a Mercedes! If you've never had it you will not believe how good it is. :) I'll be in Oriental all week. I will have ONE pound...

    A friend from Oriental, NC...

I spoke with James earlier today. He is at Ft. Pierce City Marina but only planning to stay for a couple more days. He was hoping to spend a month at that marina but they only have a 35 foot slip available. So they are charging him the same rate as a 35 foot boat even though his TOMCAT is only...

    A friend from Oriental, NC...

Jim, February 28th of this year will mark the 3 year anniversary of me doing away with television in my home (I live alone). I used to have a home phone, 2 cell phones and satellite TV. I woke up that morning & was paying bills. Too many bills. So I cancelled service with Nextel, Embarq &...

    A friend from Oriental, NC...

OK, I made a feeble attempt at redeeming myself... ;) I just hung up from calling James. He is anchored out at Lantana, FL for the night. I ask about the water and he said the TOMCAT is rocking & rolling right now (thanks Trcay! :) ). When I called he was eating tuna for dinner. He bought...

    A friend from Oriental, NC...

In any case James is doing well & having a great time. He has really been bitten by the cruising bug! Told me he plans to stay in Oriental for a month or so then perhaps head north to Maine. Good to see a friend enjoy life!

Yep. It's a Tomcat. Sorry for the confusion. Sheesh, I got almost everything wrong in my original post!

    A friend from Oriental, NC...

I just hung up from talking to James and part of the problem is my own confusion... James had BOTH engines (twin Yamaha 135's) serviced. I apologize for the confusion; I thought sure he told me he was only having one engine serviced. In any case his bill was (with general cell phone...

    A friend from Oriental, NC...

Some of you know James, a friend of mine who bought a C-Dory 25 from Gene & Carrie Wooster (Mobile East Marine in Alliance, NC). I just hung up from talking to James. Those of you who know him may be interested in knowing he is doing well. James left Oriental, NC in October of 2008...

    Southeastern NC cruising question

While you're there be sure to visit the Beaufort Grocery Company. It's an outstanding deli. Would eat there everyday if I didn't spend most of my time in Pennsylvania! :( http://www.beaufortgrocery.com/bgcmain.html

Gas or Diesel for towing my 25?

I agree 100% with Valkyrie. I have been driving diesel pickups since 1986. Am now driving a 2007 Dodge with the Cummins engine. Towed my C-22 to NC 3 weeks ago from PA. Averaged approximately 14 mpg. Coming back to PA last week (left the boat in NC) I averaged just under 18 mpg. I enjoy...

shore power to plug in or not?

As John stated earlier I would look for someone to check on her now & then. Never know when a dock line chafes, a bilge pump quits, etc. Just a thought!

    iPhone 3g

I used a Treo 600 for a couple years, then upgraded to a Treo 650. PDA net always worked well for me. I could tether my laptop to the Treo or use Bluetooth. Either way worked very well. Last fall I switched to an Iphone and AT&T service. I enjoy the Iphone very much but in my opinion the...

    Fifth Wheel Trailer Or ????

I have been following this thread for a couple days & find it very interesting. I believe we all have the dream of one day "breaking away"! I drove tractor-trailer for 29 years. Pulled doubles across the mountains of PA for 14 of those years. My thoughts on this subject? El & Bill have the...

    trailer

Back to the original post... I strongly recommend a dual axle trailer. Price difference will not be great. Also check your local laws. In PA every axle has to have brakes. I have a Magic Tilt dual axle trailer with surge disc brakes on both axles. It is a great setup. Trailered my boat from NC...
