Vertical Sliding Window/ Door/ Round two

We'll sign up for one if the pricing is in line with last years purchase. It should enhance cabin/cockpit communication without having to open the door and greatly increase air circulation in the cabin when windows start to fog, particularily underway. I'm suprised more PNW boaters are not...

BayStar Steering Doesn't Want to Steer?

I suppose a call to the manufacture could possibly uncover reasons for discontinuing the earlier steering cylinder. I can say that Les's shop had not seen this situation before and his circle is relatively large. While I didn't recognize the problem before our trip to the Broughton's, in...

BayStar Steering Doesn't Want to Steer?

Your sure to like the upgrade Jon. When your talking with Les, ask him where he would install an auto pilot pump should you ever decide to add this to your boat some day. If this is a possibility for you, you could route the hydraulic hoses through this area now to save money buying new hoses...

BayStar Steering Doesn't Want to Steer?

Thought I'd share my experience should someone find their BayStar steering not behaving properly. We were in the Broughton Islands last summer when the boat refused to turn to the left despite turning the wheel. We were almost 50 miles from the trailer and a third of the way through our...

    water stains on windows

Trust Tyboo!. 10-4 on Barkeepers Friend. Wet rag, liberal amount of BF and elbow grease completely removed the stains and shined up the windows. I tried several non-abrasive approaches to removing these stains with zero effect.

    Wallas Stoves and Battery Monitors

I ran a seperate run to power the unit and used 14 ga. for all as I already had it in hand. I'm not sure I'd worry about voltage drop Moose as it's all relative. At the end of the day as I understand it (provided were not operating in cold temperatures and our batteries are in good shape), we...

    Wallas Stoves and Battery Monitors

I installed the digital volt meter you described in my boat a couple of months ago. Cost and ease of installation swayed me towards the Blue Sea. I use it to confirm my batteries are charged before taking the boat out and to understand the state of charge on the house battery when anchored up...

    Fishfinder Setting

My vote would be to nix the fishy pictures Mike. In the salt, I look for bait which readlily shows up on most fish finders. Find the bait and find the fish if your timing is right. Over the course of a day's fishing I don't see that many perfect arches. I was told in the eighty's when I...

    Westport

This site should shed some light on things Ken. www.how-to-fish.com/how_to_fish_westport.htm, You should check it out. I've fished out of Westport several times on charters over the years and don't remember conditions being very bad crossing the bar. I suppose it's like any bar crossing...

    05/05 - 05/06 - Lopez Is. Opening Week-end

Pam and I want to thank David and the rest of you for a great time. Fletcher also wanted me to thank everyone for leaving so many food crumbs on the dock Saturday night. I made a executive decision to leave early (6:00am) Sunday along with Work Release to avoid the forecasted 15-25 knot...

    Anchor Bridles

I'm not sure I've got any reasoning to explain Dreamer. I read a post on another site last night about steadying sails and this one poster mentioned the bridle as an effective alternate. It kind of made sense, attaching the bridle to each forward cleat as opposed to the rode pivoting on the...

    Anchor Bridles

I could use some input from some of the saltier dogs in our group. I'd like to come up with a method to moderate the amount whipping around our boat does at anchor when the wind starts blowing without having to throw out a stern anchor. I first thought about the addition of a steadying or...
