More fresh water: Inexpensive & simple solution

I've used up to 4 of these 5 gallon jugs. I found 4 overkill and ended up using just 2....giving me 10 extra gallons of water to supplement the 20 gallon tank. A couple of great things about using these are: 1. I have no gauge to see how much water is in the 20 gallon tank; so I used to worry...

Connecting Deployed Anchor Rode to Boat

Personally I don't believe securing to the bow eyelet is necessary as long as the proper scope is used (as was mentioned). I can image an exception this (to which I've never had to resort). If I were securing for a violent storm, I might well use the bow eyelet. (Note on a CD25 you have to get...

Do I need bottom paint for 60-90 days in Puget Sound?

I live in the San Juans, so I am in that water all the time. I have no bottom paint. I find that if I leave the boat on its mooring buoy for more than 4 weeks, it starts to be tough to power wash off barnacles....but not unreasonably so. As noted above areas with low tidal exchange, and...

Fuses at both ends charging cables?

Exactly! A fuse protects the wire downstream of the fuse. A short before the fuse (i.e., between the source and the fuse) could fry the wire (fire?) between the source and the short since the over current would not need to flow thru the fuse. I think you're smart to put fuses at both ends to...

    Big Changes Coming

I have one complaint about the new software..... Perhaps this is something unique to my system, but as ads come and go while I'm typing a reply or new post, the sudden appearance of an ad "resets" input process in such a way that the input process refuses to accept additional keystrokes (just...

    05/11 - 05/14 - OFFICIAL 2023 Friday Harbor CBGT

I was hoping to come, but my boat is still in the shop getting some maintenance. Doesn't look like I will get it back in time. You'all are going to get some magnificent weather....including those going to Princess Louisa.

    Marinaut Update

I have.....and to emphasize your point, it cost $1800 (if I remember correctly)! True, my wife picked a somewhat more expensive fabric, but the final result is terrific (not to mention cheerful ).

    05/11 - 05/14 - Friday Harbor 2023

Is this the same government that designs, installs, and maintains all the navigational aids we all happily depend on? Is it the same government that produces the charts we'd all be up shit creek without?

    C-Dory 25 ft. Cruiser

If you don't mind me asking, and if you know, I'm, curious how far away the buyer lives from the boat.

    05/11 - 05/14 - Friday Harbor 2023

I spent 2 months in Canada last summer. I re-entered the USA at Anacortes. I went to the office on shore. All was very easy except I found it strange that when I replied "Yes" as to whether I had eggs aboard, they went out to the boat to confiscate them (along with some limes). Can't bring eggs...

    Wallas stove replacement options

Hahahaha....be nice though wouldn't it!? What could be better than dry, no fumes, no smell, clean, electric heat?

    Wallas stove replacement options

Are you kidding me? Nothing soaks up electricity more than attempting to heat something up. Using an inverter and batteries, you'd suck the batteries dry in no time. I use an electric heater when I have shore power; and as you suggest, it works great. I typically have it set at 500 watts, but if...

    Wallas stove replacement options

Tom, You bring up a point I've always wondered about. I'd be interested in your opinion. Clearly, one wants to take air from inside the boat, heat it up, and blow it back into the boat. This allows the re-heating of already heated air so as to produce even warmer air. On the combustion side...

    Wallas stove replacement options

Like I said, if I'm going to create a lot of steam, I cook in the cockpit (I just set the stove up on top of my cooler). If I'm inside, I have lots open; unless it's cold, then I crack windows a few inches near the galley (I do this for steam, I have never worried about CO2 etc...although a CO...

    window help!

I read the tip above from thataway a couple of years ago. Now I use the silicone spray he suggests in the "felt" lined tracks once the tracks are thoroughly cleaned and dry. Never had a problem since (altho I usually don't quite close them 100% to avoid the "click lock").

    Wallas stove replacement options

I have the exact same setup as Colby. I love the flexibility of the butane stove. The forced air heat can't be beat (for one thing the heat exits the system at floor level). Removing the stove creates a lot more counter space in the galley. Frankly, if a boat doesn't already have a stove & heat...

    Single Vs. Twin Engine Pro/Com

Understand. However, it's not speed thru the water that I am referencing; it is sea state. I was a bit surprised coming down the west coast of Vancouver Island how much power it required to "drive up" large swells; and even more so, how I had to use the throttle to "dance" in chaotic large wind...

    Venture 26 / Honda 150 Prop Suggestion

You're welcome Kyle. Much better on your boat than sitting on the shelf in my shop!!
