Larry,
PM David, owner of Almas Only, as he has the 22 with the 100 and has it dialed in. David is also in VA.
PS, come go cruising with us in the future.
Sad news… Such a wonderful man, with a wealth of knowledge, that he freely shared, with everyone.
I now wonder, how many other groups, has he done the same for. He will be missed by many and never forgotten, because of his contributions.
James,
99.9% of the time, the problem is that the steering cable has a rod at the end of it, that moves back and forth, inside of the tilt tube on the outboard. The tilt tube is steel and the steering cable rod is stainless steel. The lubrication between those two components bind, once the...
In addition to the comments made by ssobol, twins don't provide the total horsepower output of the stated/rated HP. This is due to drag, created by dragging two outboard lower units through the water.
I like ssbbol have swim platforms, with pull out ladders on both side of my 26 and also on my...
Alaskadory,
Congratulations on the new boat. That trip is huge for a boat that you didn't know yet, but obviously you figured things out quickly. Hope that you continue to enjoy future journeys with your new C-Dory.
Pelican,
Electric trim tabs are way better than hydraulic. The first controllable trim tabs were hydraulic and pretty much all that was out there, When electric tabs became available, it was a game changer. All of the moving parts are in the cylinder, that controls the tab. From there to the...
Out for a dinner cruise on Osprey this evening and a C-Dory Tomcat passed me, north bound on the Elizabeth River in Norfolk Harbor at Pinners Point. Didn't get a name, but always good to see other C-Dory's in my neck of the woods.
Zuunami,
My experience, on Osprey, with the small screen and the scrolling ability has not been great. My homeport is a high commercial traffic area and things can get dicey quickly. The Garmin 9” screen, with the AIS overlay, makes identification and the decision process much easier. The images...
The radio will display the AIS contacts on its screen. Unfortunately, the screen is so tiny, that it is difficult to see. Connecting it to the chart plotter provides much more visual detail, as well as visual track lines of where and when a possible collision could occur.
Please take a moment and read my post on this thread. After those minor modifications, my horn still functions as new. Before that, I was always fiddling with horn problems. I’m on salt water and it is usually getting a bath in salt.
Zuunami,
The vhf with the AIS receive, is connected to the external vhf antenna. The radio has several small wires and one of these are connected to the matching wire on the Garmin. The wire on the radio and the plotter were not the same color, but the installation manual of each, shows the wire...
I would like to provide feedback about the composting head, now that we have had the 26, with the Air-Head for more than three years.
Before I provide info on the composting head, a bit of background about me... I have owned over 75 boats and about 40 percent of those had port-a-potties or the...
Gobdav,
We had a 22 for 10 years and learned from other C-Brats, that at night, to put the port-a-potty in the aft deck. We had the camper back with full curtains and screen, so we still had privacy. This was a game changer, from initially keeping the potty in the v-berth, during sleeping...
LesR,
The tech’s at Milltech were excellent in steering me to an AIS. I installed an ET-430-0013 em-trak B953 Class B SOTDMA AIS transponder with integrated splitter..
It is easy to use and I have several hundred hours of actual operating time on it. I live in an area with lots of shipping...
PCG,
Here it is: https://tacomarine.com/trim-molding-flex-trim-v30-1005
You can buy this on line at at various marine vendors. If you buy aftermarket trim, just make sure that the inside metal that is causing the clamping is stainless or other metals that do not rust.
I don’t have a photo of my storage for my past 22, but we copied Mary and Rob’s Freedom… we purchased off the shelf shoe holders, that are made to hang on the back of your door at home. They modified by cutting and sewing, to make them in a row and hung to the interior, with 3M hook and loop...
