Check out my neighbors new boat

I wonder if he's going with an F250 or F350 tow vehicle....I'd go 1 ton dually, but that's me.

How to get the wife on board for a C-Dory 22

You'd think the relative tranquility of a quiet anchorage would be more appealing than any KOA, but that's just me. We used to camp a lot. But the kid grew up and the idea of "vacationing" surrounded by people no longer appeals to us. The Admiral had never boated prior to marrying this...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Did a quick overnight trip to Port Gamble on Friday. Stayed on the boat and didn't venture onto shore. Was still nice to get out...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

That bearing story sucks. Glad it wasn't worse and you are back on the road. I'm going to purchase an inexpensive TPMS. Issue is I have to then take them all of prior to launching. I'm pulling the boat to north Idaho next month for a family trip to Lake Pend Oreille, so hearing these stories...

    Shower Drain Problem - 2007 Venture 26

Totally different set up than the 25 then. Ours is like Boris'; sump with bilge pump on a float switch, located under the closet base on the port side.

    Rooftop dinghy straps

Up over the bow rail then onto the roof...via pure brute force.

    Rooftop dinghy straps

Ratchet straps from Harbor Freight to the roof hand rails. They won’t last long, due to salt water, but they are so inexpensive as to be virtually disposable anyway. Another option is a “spider web” bungee net but I wouldn’t trust that at freeway speeds.

    Forest Fire Smoke

I have asthma and I don’t even freak out anymore. If it’s smokey, it’s smokey. Nothing I can do about it. I go about my life and enjoy the fact that it’s not 35*F and drizzling...

When to fill up with gas?

For the last few years I’ve run E10. Real gas is too hard to find and when you do find it, you have to pay exorbitant prices. That is even worse now. We know who to “thank” for that! I’ve been using the blue “Marine” Sta-bil at every fill up. Religiously. I change the fuel filter/water...

Moose Locks Through Soo Locks with Tragic Ending

Humans do the same. Usually after consuming massive amounts of stimulants. Excited delirium. Seen it and dealt with it a lot.

What's Seattle really like these days?

Reading some posts here I’m reminded of the old saying: DENIAL. IT AIN’T JUST A RIVER IN EGYPT.

    Shipping cross country

Diesel is quickly jumping UP in price. I filled up last week for $3.09/gallon. It's now $3.40/gallon. IN A WEEK.  And it's not going down anytime soon...

    Shipping cross country

Not to hi-jack, but... As Dr Bob noted, a plane ticket and a few days with a qualified surveyor can't be understated. However, we were just beginning the possible purchase of a 40' Willard that was in San Carlos, Mexico last month. I paid a local, well known, well respected surveyor $175 for...

What's Seattle really like these days?

Yes, Harvey. That is exactly what they "believe". Of course, had his report been a glowing example of Utopia, they would then believe he ignored his boss's demands and somehow went rogue. Kinda like how some believe CNN is actually "journalism"...not propaganda. I'm reminded of the old...

What's Seattle really like these days?

Have you been to the "city parks" lately? Serious question. Because I have. They are covered with tents and tarps and pallets and stolen property...and syringes and 5 gallon buckets full of human waste. Children can't play there. And parents don't dare let their children run free there...

What's Seattle really like these days?

You may notice that there are corporations that are buying up real estate in urban areas. Not just Seattle. It has been in the "news" lately. It's well known they have a huge impact on pricing. We are seeing bidding wars on homes, especially in the burbs, where people want to move in hopes...
