    Northern Michigan Inland Waterway

Last September we based ourselves in Indian River for a few days, to cruise the Michigan Inland Waterway. We explored from Cheboygan to Alanson. It’s a nice, easy-going adventure. Impressions, from the east … Cheboygan River to Lake Huron. Heavily developed river waterway (vacation and...

    Yikes! Mouse on Board!

Some years ago, as I sat in our cozy family room on a wintery evening, my trusty hunting dog snuggled at my feet, a wee mouse scooted out from behind a pile of books. Seeing me, the mouse paused for an instant, and – I swear this really happened – flipped me “the paw” and then went on its merry...

    Lake Champlain Info Sought

Recently talked to the people at Lake Champlain Publishing Company, the guide's publisher, and was assured the book is in print and available for immediate sale and shipping. The company's phone number is 1-800-845-0028. We didn't order a guide, but did order a chartbook covering Lake...

    Lake Champlain Info Sought

Wife Sharon and Yours Truly have scheduled a four-day stay at Westport, NY, this summer, with plans for day cruising Lake Champlain in the Katie-J. Southern part of the lake probably is of primary interest this go-around. We will have fishing tackle along, so this also will be our personal...

    if you didn't know

Well, I really don't understand what you mean by "weak," but will suggest that just getting out and walking, if and as you can, is a great way to help yourself maintain general good health. Here's my story. I am approaching my 66th birthday. Among my lifelong passions has been hiking, enough...

    Laptop preferences ?

Hey, before writing off the Apples don't forget that the new MacBook computers have the Intel chip. This means you have a dual platform -- both the Apple and Wondoze OS available in one machine. This makes the Mac a universal choice, in my view. (We are a two MacBook family!) Dick Bolton

    Trailer Towing Speed

Our 2005 CD 22 rides on a Magic Tilt trailer with surge break mechanism. The tow vehicle is a 2007 Chevy Silverado crew cab pickup, 1500 series half-ton, heavy duty, with 6.0 litre V-8 engine, and tow package. All this is new to us this year (2009), so we have been ascending the learning...

    On the St. Lawrence River

I agree that Clayton is a much nicer place to visit. I didn't think you were familiar with the river at all, but you obviously know it quite well! Dick's sister lives in Cape Vincent and Dick's cousins have a "river house" at Point Vivian. Happy boating.

    On the St. Lawrence River

Make sure you go to Alexandria Bay, NY and have a bite to eat at Cavallarios. It's at the end of the town dock-great beer and subs, but you can get other things there also. A nice place to stay is the Channelsyde Motel at Point Vivian-nice dock, nice people. Enjoy yourselves-it's a great area.

    Michigan Inland Waterway

No water fights, no fish, few people...just peace and quiet. Saw a bald eagle on Burt Lake swoop down, catch a fish (guess there was ONE in the lake) and have his breakfast on a branch on the shore-awesome.

    Michigan Inland Waterway

We, too, are new C-Dory owners and just spent three fabulous days at Indian River. Our 2005, 22 CD handled the rivers and lakes beautifully and we can now dock the boat without too much trouble! Lots of "boat-envy" people saw the CD. Towed a larger boat stuck on Burt Lake back to Indian River...
