    runaway crabs

Crab are afraid of heights, so put them right here: Note how this one is holding on for dear life even though the water is right below.

retrieve without getting in the water?

Even though I have a nice cat walk arrangement on my trailer, for the reasons described above I don't go out of my way to avoid getting my feet wet. Yeah boots are good, too, but you still have to pull them on and take them off which is more than I want to do most of the time. However, for that...

lowering the cabin table on a c-dory 25

Take your hand and whack the underside of the table upward at the center point where the table attaches to the cabin wall. The table has two tabs that slide downward into brackets on the cabin wall. You need to get these tabs to slide up out of the brackets. I assume you have already...

    What's in YOUR toolbox?

Anyone who intends to carry all of this stuff, please raise your hand. Seems to me each person has to make his own choices from the universe of tools, parts, equipment and materials available out there. Either that or get a bigger boat.

<<What are the chances? >> I say there are two chances for that happening; slim and none. Hope I'm wrong, though.

    C-Dory Sightings

Saw this un-named CD19 at Pier 1½ on the SF waterfront today. These boats do tend to pop up suddenly here and there.

    C-Dory Sightings

On Oct 21, I saw a C-Dory on TV in McCovey Cove at ATT Park during game four of the SF Giants/Phillies series. You might see another one there tonight, and that would be yours truly. I'll have two flag banners and orange lights on the roof. Go Giants.

    New 25 Cruiser under construction

I see similarities and differences compared to the previous 25. Two most notable differences are, first, the scuppers are larger. Before they were 1 inch whereas these look to be 1.5 or even larger. Mine have been increased to 1.5 and these look like they could be 2.0. Can’t tell what kind of...

disc brake binding - only in reverse direction

Update: Upon removal of the caliper from the rotor and then compressing the pistons to check for movement, it was evident they aren't working properly. Basically, they're frozen and don't move in and out, so now I know what the problem is. Thanks to SeaSpray Steve for meeting up with me and...

    Radar Reflectors

What about mounting a Tri-Lens on top of the radar dome? Is there enough clearance inside so that the swing arm won't hit the mounting bolts?

    Stupid Question Probably

If one does use a suction extractor device, it's probably a good idea to at least loosen, lubricate and retighten that plug occasionally just to ensure it remains functional should the need arise.

    All Boats Must Stop!

<<Can one "pass" such a check if the boat has been washed and waxed and is perfectly clean?>> No, one cannot, you fool. :wink After all, it might be "annoying but a small price to pay to keep our waters from becoming infested". Of course, it doesn't matter that birds and fish are the biggest...

disc brake binding - only in reverse direction

I should have mentioned I have electric over hydraulic, not surge brakes, sorry. The other wheels don't bind this way.

disc brake binding - only in reverse direction

One of my wheels spins easily in the forward direction but not in reverse. In reverse, it binds and cannot be rotated without significant effort. The inside brake pad is causing it to bind and I see that the pad has some play in it. The movement is lateral to the rotor, not in and out...

    Latitude 38 re. Trailer Powerboats

I think I read somewhere that most sailboats are actually powered-boats that on average run under sail only 30% of the time. The other 70% is by petrochemical power. So if they ban powerboats, they also have to ban powered sailboats, don’t they?
