Changing Spark Plugs on a 2004 Honda 90

Do you have the standard set of tools that came with the motor? Mine doesn't fit too well either so I just use the tool kit to remove it. Don't forget that these are aluminum blocks. You have to use anti-seize on the threads before replacing them.

    Cruising the Delta

Hey Seabran, that great info. I was planning to check out Brannon Island. Does anyone know what the wind and water condition is like this time of the year? It would be nice if it's smooth.

    Cruising the Delta

Thanks Jim and Flip. I've never been to that area but have been eager to go for some time. I'm praying that the weather will hold up. It seem to have just turned for the better and the forecast looks great for this week.

    Cruising the Delta

Hello, I'm planning a 3 day cruise up from Martinez to Frank Tracks and surrounding areas. What marinas would you knowledgeable members recommend for berthing/shower/food/entertainment along the way? Thanks.

Trim tab or Hydrofoil or Permatrim?

Is there a "permatrim-like" addon other than permatrim? It seems to be a fairly simple concept with no special design except for the semi custom fitting of these trims. I can see why these would give better trimming than hydrofoils as it extends past the prop so I would prefer to try one of...

Trim tab or Hydrofoil or Permatrim?

You read my mind. Halibut it is and permatrim is definitely going to be added. Thanks everyone.

Trim tab or Hydrofoil or Permatrim?

Hey Joe, Sounds like Permatrim may be enough. I'm trying to keep the bow down in 1' chops to increase speed and ease the ride. SF bay is just too windy for a smooth ride. I'll give Permatrim a try. Thanks.

Trim tab or Hydrofoil or Permatrim?

I want to add one of these to my 16' angler to ease the ride in rougher water. Since it's only a 16'er I'm wondering if a trim tab would be an overkill and either the hydrofoil or permatrim is better suited. Also, has anyone had experience with both hydrofoil and permatrim? I had a hydrofoil...

    Spring Cleaning

Hey Jon&Patty, I get all my parts from here: http://www.boats.net/parts/ On major purchases the price is always much lower than the dealer (sometimes by hundreds) and their really helpful over the phone to boot. I'm pretty sure they have Mercury parts. Sounds like a bad thermostat. The...

    Spring Cleaning

My Honda BF50 motor has been gradually idling worse and worse and now it started to hesitate between 1,300 rpm to 2,200 rpm. If you have a similar problem here's what I did to clean up that mess: 1) Took out the pilot screws and clean them and reinstalled them (1 full turn after seating...

    Honda Valve Adjustment

Hey Moose, Valve adjustment is really simple, especially on an outboards. It's right there standing up at mid chest level. It doesn't get any easier. 1) Make sure the engine is COLD. 2) Move the flywheel so that the T markers line up. Makes sure you turn it in the direction of the arrow...

How about updating your "Boats for Sale" Area?

Wow, what a day on the water. Wall of fog and swells 6'-8' high. 2.3 hrs to drive through the mess back home. Still worth it. Sawdust, you're right. The Iraq comment was out of line and I do hope you accept my apology. 3 of my uncles disappeard/died in a war so I should know better. The...

How about updating your "Boats for Sale" Area?

Well, well, well, look at all the flotsam that's choking up this thread. Let's see, there's craigslist (same engine, similar use), coastsidefishingclub (same concept), continuouswaves (same concept)...I really don't see your "not at all like most other sites". So, is there's a gauge you...

How about updating your "Boats for Sale" Area?

If there's no delete feature to adds like most other sites then just state that. What we don't need here is smart-ass, half-witted comments about the economics of running this site. We all know that the moderator is doing it out of love for the boat. Suggestions and questions should be...

    Frozen Bolt!

Finally got them out. Here's what I did. I backed out the bolts as much as they would go. Got my rubber mallet and whacked the lower unit apart till it was caught on the bolts. Bought a can of PD penetrant (thanks for the recommendation on this product) and sprayed it on the bolts and let it...

    Frozen Bolt!

Hey New Hampshire Guy, the outboard is a 99 and it's been 2 years since the lower unit was cracked open and it is operated in salt water. It's been a while but not that long. The last time it was opened the bolts probably wasn't greased before reassembly. The bolts will turn 2-3 times then...
