Quick way to seal exposed core

To be honest, it doesn't look like the builder or dealer removed or "plugged" the core on any through bolts I've taken off so far, but If you're going to go through the trouble of taking it all off, do 100% of whatever you plan to do before putting the bolts back. I find if there's not enough...

    Bow Cleat Placement?

Learned something new. Nifty trick. Point goes to the all-chain crowd.

    Bow Cleat Placement?

Thanks for the explanation. I've been digging through c-brats' albums, but that's not a very common photo angle. Hadn't considered different anchoring methods for cats versus monos. Something else to google now as well as bridles. Cheers.

    Bow Cleat Placement?

So far we haven't anchored anywhere other than dragging it out on the sandbar and letting the windlass hold it. I believe our rode is 25' of 1/4" chain and 150' of 1/2" 3-strand. Probably more than sufficient for the Florida Bay, Keys and sandbars, but I'll have to upgrade before any serious...

    Bow Cleat Placement?

I've noticed in some TC owners' photos there is a bow cleat mounted directly behind the windlass. Ours doesn't look like it has enough free deck space behind the windlass before the angled transition. Looking around I've seen other bow cleats placed where I circled below. Any advise for best...

    Higher-end Boat Chairs

Been researching the same. Started with folding camp and beach chairs, but had a bad sliding incident. Bought a couple of West Marine beanbags on sale afterward, but found the same issue as you. I'm slowly "recycling" styro packaging trying to build up the stuffing, but I doubt it will make much...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Thanks WT. Not gonna lie. I was strutting like a peacock when I finally got done... a month after I started. :D Smart rule... unless you've got a lot of time to kill when you open that can of worms. I still have to add the radar arch, radar, air conditioner and vhf antennae, so I figured now...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Finally got the helm put back together last night and hopefully will take her out for a test drive today. Starting tearing it apart last month looking for a hydraulic leak, and one thing led to another... Fixed the "spinal scoliosis" in the nmea backbone with a couple of Anchor brand 4-way...

    Insurance

We're with Progressive also, but newer tomcat, higher replacement, so ours runs about $1150. YMMV depending on your choice of deductible, coverage and zip code.

    Advice on handheld VHF

We use a pair of Standard Horizon HX870's also. So far we've been very happy with them too. Eventually I'll get finished installing the Icom M506 in the console and then the handhelds will go in the kayak and ditch bags.

Do you strap your boat down when trailering?

Not sure about your state, but it's a requirement in Florida.

    $166k for a new Tomcat

Unfortunately not. They still fill a little with every afternoon shower. Has anyone successfully added a gasket of any kind?

    Rear Camera

There'll be another out-of-town C-brat passing through the Stuart area the weekend of the 4th. Unfortunately the admiral and I have surgeries scheduled up in central FL before the end of the year, so I don't know if we'll be able to bring the tomcat down yet, but we're going to try. Either way...

    Rear Camera

Bought a cheap one to play around with off Amazon while thinking about towing the nieces/nephew on a tube. Clipped it to the overhang above the door and ran it into the video input of the Garmin chartplotter. Held up well to being offshore and kept on a lift for several months. The "clip clips"...
