Current Atlas: Juan de Fuca Strait to Strait of Georgia

For the years I drove commercial whale watch boats in the San Juans, that book was essential. Knowing what to expect by putting the wind and weather forecasts with the information in this book to determine the best routing and timing. I like the idea of having the information on an app...

    05/13 - 05/16 - Friday Harbor CBGT 2021

Sounds like a good time! I do miss that area and this gathering. Question for Greg: Who did you contact to get permission to fly a drone so close to the airport? My "little" drone is a Mavic Mini, and it won't authorize take-off within 5 miles of an airport. Great images, btw.

    Orpine Boat Soap?

Hey, Steve - no experience with that Boat Soap, but when we got our current motorhome (with full body paint), Winnebago recommended using baby shampoo to keep from stripping the wax off. Happy to report that has worked well for us. I now use it on the car, the bikes, even the cargo trailer.

Daydream Will be in Blaine Marina this Summer!

You are gonna get spolt (that's Texas talk for "spoiled") - it is nice to just bop to the boat and take off; no messing with launching, parking a trailer, and retrieving. You will probably find that there will be days when you just go down to the boat to take a nap, maybe visit with your dock...

Non Boating C-Brat Logistical NE corner help

Hi Harvey - Pat has been posting on Facebook when time allows. He is making the miles and having to deal a lot with Mother Nature. Now in the northeast, and all the traffic. Perseverance... getting to all 4 corners of the US in 21 days. I like to ride, but that is serious hardcore.

    Bottom cleaning, San Juan Islands

To get back to the OP - there are two options for bottom cleaning: pull it up on the trailer and powerwash/scrub it, or have a diver scrape the bottom. I know there are a couple divers that do boats in the marina at the Port of Friday Harbor that we used on commercial boats; check with Tami in...

    Bleeding the hot water heater

The hissing and spitting is normal when filling the tank; the pump runs at full blast because it is filling the tank, and you have to have a hot water faucet open to facilitate that. One thing that concerned me was you saying you "taped" everything. Assuming you are talking about Teflon tape...

    SOLD - 1988 C-Dory, 22' Cruiser, $29,500 (Salem, OR)

Congrats on the sale, Terry and Ann. It was always a pleasure to cross paths on the water, maybe we'll see you down the road. Not easy to let a good boat go, but it is good to have a plan. Hopefully, the new owners will enjoy RockC and treat her to more adventures, as you did. Best wishes...

2004 Martini Launch ELECTRIC New Owners

Can you post some photos of this boat. I wasn't aware that C-Dory ever made an electric "martini launch." I seem to recall that Ranger made some based on the Ranger 21 hull. It would be interesting to see what you are working with.

When Did the Photo Albums Get "Pruned"?

In Navin's defense, that name was suggested to him... he just went along with it. I was just having fun with Pat. If it gets to be beyond fun, feel free to call me Navin's dog's name, and I will publicly apologize and put myself in a time-out. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings... well...

When Did the Photo Albums Get "Pruned"?

And, that's how rumors get started. 8) I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, but I forget if it is slander or libel to make untrue public remarks. Kinda like figuring out if it is ignorance or apathy in not doing a search... I don't know, and I don't care. To...

    Life at anchor

Once the anchor line is out, tie a rolling hitch onto that just beyond the anchor roller. Let out another 5 or 6' of line. Take the bitter end of the line you just tied and run it back to a cleat further aft (outside the bow rails). Pull that line until you get an angle that feels comfortable...

    Life at anchor

We had a Corsair F27 when we ordered the CD-25. I used a bridle when anchoring the Corsair, and it sat pretty good. The flat(ish) bottom on the CD-25 is not "rolly" at anchor (like a v-hull that size tends to be), but it does sail around a bit. You can control that somewhat by putting a...

    Short trip towing

The CD-25 is more than a ton heavier than the CD-22. That said, with the short distance and low speed that the OP is considering, I'm sure the truck is up for it, even if the insurance company may not be. Benefit vs risk. If it were me, and that is the truck, I'd do that... with a polite...
