    Sinking of the Sailboat Kelaerin

A little off topic but related. I recently watched the PBS show Chasing Shackleton. A re-creation of the 800 mile sail in a 25ft lifeboat in the southern ocean. I was a little surprised by the video of the on board cameras. With 6 guys on a small boat in period clothing and very wet and cold...

    16th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza

I do have a tall radar arch. My no problem height for land or water is 12 ft. I am sure that gives me more than a foot of clearance but am not sure about 10.5 ft. I have been very busy but will try to get out and measure soon. Steve

Trailering to Port McNeill, were to stay

Hi Fred, On that first Desolation Sound trip where I meet you, we stayed at the "Snaw Naw As Campsite" on the way up. I don't remember it being called that then but I do recognize it on Google maps. Just north of Nanaimo We had a nice evening with some locals by their campfire on the beach. But...

    Rub Rail Repair.....

Hi Bob, I pulled the rail because like many others, about 70% of the rivets had let loose and the rail had a large gap from the hull. In the places where the rivets go through the gap (as in the pictures) the fiberglass looks almost 1/4 in thick. Now that I understand what I am looking at I am...

    Rub Rail Repair.....

Anyone know what sealant the factory used in 2004 time frame? They did not seal the rub rail at all. Only covered the inside with the blob of sealant. Steve

    Rub Rail Repair.....

I just pulled off one side of my rub rail to reattach it. I found a gap of about 1/4 to 3/8 between top and bottom of joint. all of the rivets holes are through this gap. The only fiberglass the rivets go through is the piece that of the "shoe box" joint from the deck that goes inside the hull...

Do you use dual Racor spin on type fuel/ water separator?

Just another way to deal with the sticking bowl. I drill a small hole through the filter and the black ring and put a screw in the hole. This keeps the black ring from turning while removing the bowl. I do have to use strap wrenches or large pliers to turn the parts.
