Hilliard's Brewing from the Ballard area of Seattle cans all of their craft beers. Some of them are very nice. Even their Beer glasses are shaped like a can and inscribed "One Refillable Pint"

    Windlass Doesn't Operate -Battery Arrangement

If it's a vertical windlass, it has most likely gotten water in it past the top seal and the gearbox has frozen up. Replace it with a horizontal windlass and eliminate the problem. You'll need a spacer to complete the change.

    Blakely Island Marina

Agreed, Blakely is a nice stop. But, it is an island of private property and you can't just head down the road for a walk. Signs make it clear that you're to stay on Marina property while you're there. Tyboo did breach the fence once for a photo op!

Bill, Those have always been fun gatherings with weather running the gamut. I think you should put on your organizer hat and go for it. I expect a lot of the Sequimites would help you out. We will be doing the Utah National Parks for all of Sept and on into Oct. Your buddy, Jon Beltrami...

    Interesting docking procedures/maneuvers

At a Coast Guard class, we met a couple that told us they had just bought their first boat. It was a single engine 40' Trawler with no thruster. They told of trying to dock it at their marina in Vallejo, CA, the windiest spot in the state! After several attempts, the husband turned the helm over...

    Vacuum cleaner for long cruises

We used the 18v. battery powered version of the 12v. B&D from Wiliwaw. If you have shore power most of the time to recharge it, it's a powerhouse and very effective. http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-Cord ... SRKX7MTM6X

Want to be on da water

Larry, Smooth water waits for no one! The house chores, on the other hand, can always wait IMHO. For the first time in 18 months, the water on the Straits yesterday made me wish I had a boat!

    Tom Cat power

If you don't want to get up on plane easily, it may work with the prop being in less disturbed water. If you want the speed of the conventional TomCat, you'll need to think about a Yamaha 300 or 350. The Armstrong bracket is probably strong enough to handle it if modified competently. Then there...

    Who built it?

In my humble, non boat owner opinion, the best C-Dory's are the ones being built right now! And, I bet you can get a tour of the factory and see why. Barry's right about them all being a cut above however.

    Stereo Questions

Well, all the audiophiles have checked in and that's way over my head. However, rule #1 when installing a stereo in a boat, Keep the speakers away from the compass ! Like 3 feet if you can. BTDT.
