    Salmon

If no bucket on hand, after a quick tap to the head, I put them on a stringer (or just one made with rope on hand), slit the gills and tie them off to a stern cleat just low enough to get the head in the water. Best to whack them just enough to knock them out and keep the heart beating so they...

    Possession Salmon

08/24-08/25 Saturday - Slow day for me. Fished from sunup to about 4pm. A lot of boats out so fished center of the straight. Fish were much shallower this week and took a while before figuring that out. Only 2 in the boat. One from 50' and one from 60'. Saw entire schools boiling on the...

    Salmon

    1. Sockeye / Chinook 2. Coho 3. Pink Never had a fresh springer so now I really want some! I'll second Forrest that once you go salt, it's hard to go back to river salmon. While Pinks are at the end of the list, they can still be quite good. Rinse and blot dry the fillet then cake the flesh...

    8 days at Neah Bay

Nice work Roger! Tuna trip sounds like a blast. Offshore at night can be amazing. Hopefully next time we both make it out there we can catch up. Thanks again for the intel!

    Possession Salmon

Made a quick evening run tonight 08/20. Dropped gear just around the corner past Mukilteo at 6:00PM. Trolled southbound with one rod at 100' and the other at 120' center channel. Not a strike. When we made it down to Shipwreck turned east and landed one pink from 100'. Current pushed us out...

    Possession Salmon

Nice work Roger! What was your weapon of choice? What was the area you trolled? We put in a few hours this morning and got 2 pinks in the box. One really bright with great color to the meat. He's sitting on the BBQ as I type. Lost one silver close to the boat. Acrobatic little bugger...

    Possession Salmon

Great input! Possession such an fun & easy evening run from Everett around the corner. Will drop deep for a few to see if they are still hunkered down. And yes Rick, making the trek west to the coast is the way to be! Nice haul! Hoping to get to Sekiu or Neah for some Coho fun after Labor Day.

    Possession Salmon

Anybody putting in time out in Possesion? If so, how have you fared? Before they closed Chinook, last weekend on the Bar, one small silver and one native Chinook then fished the tide rips due south of the Bar and boated another silver and a humpy. 3.5 Silver Horde Kingfisher spoons landed...

Looking at shipping a boat - have some questions

    Trolling with a 60

Thanks guys! I didn't want to assume then have an "uh oh" moment out there. I ran the speed test on the lake since the GPS measures speed over ground and didn't want current to be a factor in how slow they can throttle down. And yes, twin 60's, both left down for the extra drag. Good advice...

    Trolling with a 60

Anybody troll straight on a 60hp? Or thoughts that a trolling plate would be needed? Via GPS on the Raymarine I got 0.9mph on idle with one engine at idle which is below the 2-3 needed for salmon. This was on a lake, no current or wind. First season with a boat and no kicker. Heading to...

    23' Venture vs. 32' Bayliner

It was good to lend a hand and a learning experience for sure. Back in my climbing days, anchor equalization was beat into me pretty good. Given we have no towing eyes and with limited materials on hand, we did what we could. Lucky the conditions were so mellow. Biggest thing coming away...

    23' Venture vs. 32' Bayliner

In all seriousness I'm sure it was a sight to see. On our way back to the Port of Everett from Friday Harbor during the wife and my first "cruise" so to speak we were waived at by a crew on the Bayliner off the westside of Camano. He was dead in the water, engines, batteries and the likes...

And now the starboard engine won't start!

FInally got the time to spend a bit more solving the issue. I already established power into the starter and into the relay are good. Put the voltmeter on lead connecting the relay and starter. With a second set of hands available, I had my wife turn the key, zip. Relay 'clicks' but no juice...

And now the starboard engine won't start!

Intermittent is right! One nice thing about twins is you have test parts. I pulled the starter and put it on the port engine (that has been fine). It turned over. Reinstalled the original starters. Next pulled the start relay and put it on the port engine. It turned over. Reinstalled the...

And now the starboard engine won't start!

Battery jumped directly to starter with cables bypassing the boats electrical system...click... Something to do with the starter/solenoid system...even more puzzleing since it just gave me a start but has now reverted back to it's clicking state. Maybe it's fate telling me to finish the...

And now the starboard engine won't start!

Thanks Boris. Same here. Had a starter issue with the old F250. Ended up being a bad starter and when I replaced it I damaged the cable at the terminal under the sheath. It was corroded and when I pulled the battery to change the starter it damaged the wire. Was 3 days of trouble shooting...

And now the starboard engine won't start!

The plot thickens... I pulled the starboard battery again. Rechecked every connection. Wire brushed them, bought new nuts. Scrubbed everything pristine. Check the connection at the starter as well. To eliminate any other connections, the engine is connected directly to the battery. Gave it...

And now the starboard engine won't start!

yep, cranked and fired instantly. pre-start the batt read 12.57V, while running it was 13 and some change so it is getting a charge. it was hooked up to the muffs in the driveway. turned it off, let it sit for a min and wanted to fire it back up as a double check and got the click. the...
