    Another New Marinaut Owner

Michael, welcome aboard! The first time you are out on your "fair weather" day-cruise and the weatherman didn't quite get it right, you'll be amazed at the wonderful feeling you'll get while your snug and warm in the cabin heading home at an easy pace. Then when you put her to bed (the boat I'm...

    Boat-B-Q experience?

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I love my round Magma grill with "wired" lid. Just gotta learn to use it. I also bought those charcoal brickette looking volcanic rocks and cover the bottom as much as possible, they heat up and hold the heat. The lid attaches to the edge with it's inside large...

    Trailer Jack Corrosion Protection

Thanks all for the recommendations. The SharkHide protectorant sounds very good, but at $60/can + shipping, almost as much as a new jack! The CorrosionX Heavy Duty looks like the perfect solution ($16/can + shipping). I ordered a can. Also want to use it on my anchor where there's a spot of...

    Trailer Jack Corrosion Protection

I couldn't find where this has been addressed before. I just received my new Fulton 2500 lb replacement trailer jack (with footplate), just like my original that lasted nearly 10 years (can't complain)! The jackscrew finally froze up from rust apparently. It worked so well for so long I never...

11th Annual Delta and Bay Extravaganza (May 2013)

This is a bit sad that I can't commit to the trip quite yet. I have two separate family issues that could require my full-time attention during that time. However....if a window opens for that time frame, and there's an opening or cancellation, I will be there with bells on!!! Brent and Dixie...

    Cooling system

If you don't know when the last time the impeller was changed, or can't find out, get in there and replace it -- and also check the water pump housing while at it of course. Depending on your usage and water conditions, this needs to be done every 2-3 yrs or more often for sure.

Are there any used Tom cat 255s for sale anywhere ?

Welcome aboard Larry and Laurie. I frequent the Channel Islands regularly -- well, not as regular as I dream about them lately. But I do plan a strong season of getting out on the boat this year. Even leaving for Catalina this w/e for some needed R&R. Make sure you take advantage of...

    Charging system problem

I have twin F80's. Back 3 yrs ago or so the rectifier assy blew out on one engine at a VERY wrong time -- middle of a 20 mi crossing, 9pm at night, 3-4ft waves, 15 knots wind, family on board. My second engine got us back very well with radar and all instruments working fine. The replacement...

Wild Blue is even more famous

So the moral of the story is, route around New Mexico unless you have trailer coverage. Hey Jim, curious, I up'd the load range on my trailer tires to "E", was "D" from Pacific Trailers. Had severe, and I mean severe, bubbles develop in the sidewall on the original Carlisle tires...

    Need trailer for C-Dory 25

Trailers for C-Dory's are quite different than for the typical V-bottom boat. I would think it would be difficult to find a suitable used one without substantial modifications. Mine is from Pacific Trailers, they have two factories, one in Newark, CA (near San Jose), the other in Chino, SoCal...

    Washing a waxed boat

Do you have to buy it on-line or are there department stores or others that carry it?

The Cruising Adventures of Wild Blue and crew...

Jim, I can relate to the "explosion" when an 18-wheeler tire blows. Heard and saw my first one about 3 months ago, maybe 100 ft in front of us, barely missed the tire pieces also. Quite a wake-up call, I now stay 'extra' far away from trucks, more than usual. Great pic of you and Joan in the...

Gas Tank leak on my 25

I have no semi-removable floor in the cockpit, fiberglassed in all around. I believe the tank is sitting on fiberglass molded runners, but not sure. I'll take an inspection mirror one of these days and see what I can see (and photograph).

Gas Tank leak on my 25

I have a CD25 2003, plastic tank, so far no problems or leaks.

    Tip for Southern boaters

I use a pipe cleaner (hard to find these days) to clean out my -- whatever you wish to call them. I found it even better to put two together to make it longer for those buggers that make it further up the way. I like the idea of plugging the holes on the engine and all around the boat, great...

    09/22 Lake Powell 2012

I too have to miss this trip. A 3-way collision in time, 2 at work and 1 at home. Even if I were to squeeze 8-10 days in there, it'd be no fun worrying about these problems at home/work. Hope everyone has a safe and "uneventful" trip, and a great time while on the lake. Maybe next year....

    Garmin Data Cards

Just a thought, many years ago West Marine downloaded a chart onto a blank card for my 188 Garmen, they had just run out of stock of the one I wanted. They sold it to me at a reduced price too! I wonder if they still have reader/writers at some of the stores that might work. Side question on...

    09/22 Lake Powell 2012

Well it's looking good, for those into probability, about 80% good to go. Some work issues occur 1 week before leaving, if not handled by trip time, boss says will have to cancel or delay. Chris, I plan on leaving Thurs 9/20 and stay over in Vegas. But I don't think I'll make it to Wahweap by...

    09/22 Lake Powell 2012

Thanks Chris, that's much farther than I expected, glad I asked. I plan to tow with the tank nearly empty then fill up in Page, AZ. Then at least one more time at a marina. And thanks Steve for the fishing license price and link. I see that it's $32 for a 7-day non-res, probably what I'll do...
