    August 2 to 8 - 14th Annual Catalina Off-Shore Adventure

My schedule for that week is changing faster than my underwear... We have another round of Eastern guests arriving late the week before and staying 10 days. The current plan is to go camping Friday (7/31) thru Monday (8/3), then perhaps head to Catalina on Tuesday and stay thru Thursday. So for...

    Trailer springs

I too have had my leaf springs break, never had that happen on any of the other 14 boat trailers I've owned for past 40 years. Mine happened on my way "up" the Grapevine (Interstate 5 North before Bakersfield). I have always washed down my springs and brakes along with the boat with fresh water...

    August 2 to 8 - 14th Annual Catalina Off-Shore Adventure

Boris, thanks, but I didn't sleep well last night. Rechecked my receipt from 4th July w/e (actually 5th, 6th, 7th) and it was $15/day -- my brain must have still been in 2014...not unusual :-). In addition, the parking booth personnel seem to be very diligent and honest, they take a fair amount...

    August 2 to 8 - 14th Annual Catalina Off-Shore Adventure

I typically launch from the Cabrillo Beach ramp (San Pedro) when going to either the Isthmus or Avalon, about 20nm to either. Sometimes, I'll launch from Marina Del Rey because it is a better angle to the prevailing wind/waves or I'm with "the group", but it is a 30nm trip on the water then...

    Honda 2.3 hp 4 stroke

I have a 1988 Yamaha 3HP with neutral/forward gear shift, 2-stroke, bought it new (27 yrs ago!). So far, this has been the perfect motor for our uses. I have mounted it on numerous dingys over the years, from small to medium, pushing up to 7 people in the dingy, strong winds, rough seas too. I...

2015 SE Alaska Cruise out of Skagway

I too am enjoying every word of your writing, and Dixie's too. What a great trip and perfect set of couples to enjoy this trip together. I know what you speak of regarding Dixie's cooking (can't speak for Brent's cooking... :-). You can't "buy" better prepared food than Dixie's cooking, you...

    CD25 Center wiper

I installed an electric wiper on my center window, works fine, window still opens. I believe I have a picture in my album. I had to create a "standoff" piece of wood on the inside because I could only get the long shaft wiper model, otherwise no problems.

Test done of RPM vs MPH vs MPG on CD25 with a Honda BF150

Good data. That's just about exactly what I get with my twin Yamaha 80's. I tend to cruise between 15-18 nmph and average 2.5-2.8 nmpg depending on loading and sea conditions. This has been pretty consistent over the 12 years I've had the boat. Thanks!

    03/25 to 03/29 - 13th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza

I have a couple of pictures to post, but no photo album. Do others have pictures to post also? If not, I can just post on this message forum.

    Mooring on Catalina

Don't forget the Botanical Gardens, and yes, the bird park is still there on the way up to the gardens.

    03/25 to 03/29 - 13th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza

Thanks for the link David, great idea! But need to sign up for the free pass the week of the trip. I just signed up a few minutes ago for Petaluma, it is a 3-day pass that expires this Saturday, 3/14/2015! Won't be able to make that one being 400 miles away!

New C Brat, looking for the " perfect" CD25!!!!!!

My 2003 CD25 has the water tank forward, in front of the v-berth foot well area. I cut out a large door to view the tank for filling and another port opening on the above left of the tank to check the water inlet and vent fittings (see my album for pics). I don't know when they moved the tank...

    Mooring on Catalina

One other thing not mentioned and you asked. Checking mooring lines. Ascertain or ask the Harbor Patrol upon arrival about the tide when you arrive. That will determine whether you tighten the lines a bit snug (high tide) or fairly loose (low tide). Also, look at the other boats to your...

New C Brat, looking for the " perfect" CD25!!!!!!

I probably have one of the lightest CD25's around, it weighed in at 7400 lbs w/galvanized, bunk style Pacific trailer (27 ft) w/spare tire and twin Yamaha F80's. Mine is a 2003, perhaps a bit lighter than the newer ones, I know one difference, my roof is 1/4" thick vs the cored, thick roofs...

    03/25 to 03/29 - 13th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza

Nicely done Floyd! Very interesting to see a bird's eye view of the trip with satellite features. Also the offshore ocean bottom contours. Thanks!

    03/25 to 03/29 - 13th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza

Doug, I wouldn't fret over single-handling if it comes down to that, you'll have a multitude of people to help at every location! Gives us something worthwhile to do...! :-)

    inside overhead CD25 rod holders

If you go to my photo album, you'll see my overhead rod holders. I think I can hold 8-10 (will have to count), but they've worked great for all the years I've been using them. I like the extra spaces for when I have friends come along, they can put their rods nicely out of harm...

    08/03 - 08/09 - 13th Annual Catalina Off-Shore Adventure

I too had a wonderful trip, thanks to everyone and their hospitality as well. I had a great first mate, Chris, 11 yrs old. So glad Sealife Mike brought his 12 yr old grandson, really made his time enjoyable. This trip I'll rate as one of my top 3 C-Dory trips to Catalina. Hard to quantify, but...
