    Brock's New 23 Venture

Brock, Congrats on the new (much larger) boat. I'm guessing you already have a name for it but if not, I thought "Catman Deux" would be a good choice.

Getting Daydream on a Plane on the Loop

Definitely agree. With a lot of weight to stern, the boat will tend to wallow more. I'm still surprised that you can get on plane at all though.

    Ranger vs. C-Dory

Glen, You're vastly overestimating the difference in fuel consumption. The 8x difference is in gallons per hour with the Ranger tug going 6kt and the C-dory going 15kt (or even 18kt). In gallons per mile the fuel usage is more like 2.7-4x different at those speeds. Slow the C-dory down to 6kt...

What people say about our boat

I was in the Ballard locks a few years back and was rafted off a cigarette boat (a Donzi). I asked how fast his boat went and he indicated 65MPH. He then asked how fast my 22 would go. I said, "70". He gave me a cross eyed look of disbelief and I followed with "... on the trailer". :D

    Daydream's Great Loop Blog!

Iphones take pretty darn good photos. They just get down sampled on upload by many different internet apps/websites. So I'm pretty sure the photos will be great for either purpose. I certainly like them.

    Daydream's Great Loop Blog!

I assume a high res version of the picture of DayDream with Lady Liberty in the background will both wind up on the wall of the crabby shack and be in the next C-Brat calendar.

    Cape Cruiser inspecton port install

I'm not familiar with the Cape Cruiser construction details but I had a leak in my former 22 C-Dory that I ultimately traced to the fresh water fill port not being well sealed to the gunwale. On my 22, there was a small rise in the gunwale just forward of the cockpit that was designed to deflect...

Dual outboard engine training for a former sailboater

As has been mentioned, the typical C-Dory doesn't have a lot of boat below the water line and it has a lot above it. As a result, it's pretty easily blown onto or off of a dock in the wind. Also, when heading directly into the wind, the bow can rotate around very quickly if it gets pointed a...

    Sufficiency/efficiency of twin 40s on 22'

My previous 22 had twin, carbed Honda 40's. Without permatrims, wide open with a light load on flat water was about 30MPH or 26kts. For the 22, that's just about the speed where the boat feels a little squirrely - e.g. still controllable but on the edge of not having enough wetted surface to...

    tomcat as a first boat???

That's an assumption on your part. My buddies didn't become buddies by being slackers.

    tomcat as a first boat???

The bait pump pumps water in, the fish box pumps pump water/blood/guts out. So they are not interchangeable. In principal, one could combine the fish boxes to one pump but that would leave at least one long run of hose filled with stuff after pump out. Also when that one pump fails (& it will)...

    tomcat as a first boat???

"5) the gas station blues will kick in soon enough - it's a challenge gassing her up - two separate tanks mean moving her twice to fill up; much less two 90 gallon tanks - cha-ching." At fuel docks the hoses are always long enough to fill both sides. At gas stations on land, if I get close...

Please don't kick me out of the group!

    1) Of course you're still a Brat. 2) NMI does have a bigger, beamier hull, in the SeaSport line. The Pacific 3200 catamaranis my dream boat - it's just too far above my price range to be realistic. They are beautiful boats inside and out.

    tomcat as a first boat???

Nope - I have an airhead. But that's why I said that "if you get a Tomcat it will likely come with at least 7 pumps". I hate changing/fixing pumps and the sewage pump would be low, low, low on my list. In fact I've complained so much about pumps that last year when a buddy of mine and...

    tomcat as a first boat???

I had twin Honda 40's on my 22. Twin 135's on the Tomcat. While you might not see yourself running 8 pumps, if you get a Tomcat, it will likely come with at least 7. On mine there are: 2 bilge pumps 2 macerator pumps- one for each fish box 1 raw water wash down pump 1 pump for the fresh water...

    tomcat as a first boat???

I have a Tomcat after owning a 22 for about 10 years. We've had the Tomcat for about 5 years now. The expense of maintaining and operating the Tomcat is at least double what I spent on the 22. My buddy and I co-own the Tomcat through an LLC. We each contribute $600/month to the "boat...

Model of the Dometic refrigerator in a Tomcat

Thanks - Fred PM'd me. Just need to confirm it will fit the available hole as I don't have access to many tools or a shop since we sold our house last summer.

    repower 16' from 2-stroke to 4-stroke 50hp

Tohatsu manufactures it's own outboards and also many of the outboards for Nissan and Mercury. I think below 30hp, the Mercury and Tohatsu outboards are basically the same engines and are manufactured by Tohatsu. So I don't think one needs to be concerned about the reliability of the Tohatsu...

Model of the Dometic refrigerator in a Tomcat

Does anyone know what the model number is of the refrigerator that is typically installed in the Tomcat? Mine crapped out sometime between last use and this weekend and is flashing an error code that (I believe) indicates that compressor pump wont start. I either need to get it repaired or...

    05/19 - 05/21 - 2017 Friday Harbor CBGT

Thanks Greg and Cindy for all your great work. Sorry I was so anti-social but I had two other couples with me this past weekend and Joyce and I have our 36th anniversary on Tues so we arranged to do a dinner as a small group on Sat. That combined with lots of effort shrimping, didn't leave...
