    Winterizing

Oh, I've done that several times....but not part of my annual maintenance. (I wish it was. I wouldn't have to do it as often. lol)

    Winterizing

FWIW, I tend to do all my annual maintenance at the end of the season, and consider it part of winterizing the boat. The plugs, fuel filters, oil and oil filters are all changed out. Motors are lubed, including pulling the props and relubing the shafts and checking to make sure no fishing line...

It's those damn disc brake calipers again

Well, the bronze bushings still seem to be doing fine. Even going through the Rockies. However, I did have another brake pad fail on the way to Lake Powell. After launching, I found one of the brake pads missing with just the metal backing plate still there. And while doing my annual...

Bosch Tronic 3000T ES2.5 Electric Water Heater

Your annual reminder to check your anodes. I haven't been able to access the ones in my kicker (Yamaha 9.9), but the Yamaha 150 are pretty easy to get at. I just pull them out and clean them up with my bench grinder wire wheel. Once again, the anode on my Bosch water heater had a lot of wear...

    LoadRite Trailer hardware

Thanks Tyboo. So I went to that site, and scrolled through pretty fast. Got 87%. Nothing came up about getting a free bottle of the Orange stuff. Then saw that there was a place to register and login, so went through that and took the course again....passing with the same score. Nothing...

    LoadRite Trailer hardware

Just a heads up. After traveling another 1700 miles with C-Traveler in tow, on our interstate highways that seem to be getting worse in the way of washboard bumps, after launching the boat, I found that the main bolt that attaches the two side rails to the center tongue, had lost it's nut and...

It's those damn disc brake calipers again

Follow up. Just thought I'd follow up with my changeover from the rubber bushings to bronze. So far the brakes seem to be working fine. I did have a brake pad go missing on my last trip to Pirates Cove Marina on the Erie Canal, but replaced it before returning home. (Pad appears to have...

How can I run my hot water heater while under way?

I do use solar water bags on the roof that work great on sunny days. But that may not be often in the PNW…

How can I run my hot water heater while under way?

With how much amperage a hot water heater pulls, I think you'll be best to just stick with running your generator, if not plugged into shore power.

    16 or 22

Ha, that's like asking which is better, Ford or Chevy! If you are looking at fishing/trolling, you'll be better off with a single and a kicker. Beyond that, there will be folks that swear by twins and others that swear by a single. Advantages and disadvantages to both. If you find the boat...

    Electric Heater

If you can find my photo albums for both Midnight Flyer (my previous 22), and C-Traveler (current 25), and look for the embedded albums in each for Webasto install, you'll see the photos I took of both boat's Webasto install. (I'd look up the link, but it's late and I've still got photos to...

    C-Dory Meet Up in Midwest

St. Ignace is a great location and nice marina. You can cruise many directions from there, such as Mackinac Island or Mackinaw City. Also the islands around Cedarville. However, you do have to cross some of Lake Huron so weather could be a factor.

    FindPenguins: Erie Canal

I enjoy sharing my travels with everyone, but spending way too much time posting to various sources. So, I'm limiting my uploads to blogging at FindPenguins.com. Even with this great new improved C-Brats, it's just easiest to pick one place, and stick with that. That being said, I am...

    Reaching for my trophy

What Bob said! Love this new and improved C-Brats.... even the two old direct messages that popped up from 2021 and 2022. lol. I answered Harvey before I realized they were old....lol

Recommendations and experiences with a 22' or 25' cruiser

I’m towing the 25 with a 2019 Ford F150 with the 5.0L. I tow around 10,000 mi/year including over the Rockies and Cascades. Earlier on with the 22 I towed it with a Toyota Highlander, eventually going to the 150. My 25 has the cockpit helm and it is great for solo docking and trolling. It...

How hard can you be on a C-Dory

It's probably harder on your body than the boat. The C-Dory really does best at just slowing down in the rough water. It can be a miserable ride, but it's a very seaworthy boat! How much gas did they use while doing circles around you?

Recommendations and experiences with a 22' or 25' cruiser

I owned a 22 for ten years, and upgraded to my current 25, four years ago. I'm on my fifth season I believe. I do miss the 22. But the 25 definitely offers more room. I am not sold that one rides better than the other. The 25 is more stable in list walking back and forth, as it's a little...
