We could not make it up in time for the gathering. We will be launching from Anacortes Mon/Tue, quick trip to Friday Harbor to see Jim and Joan, and then on northward through the Gulfs. Hope to see some wandering Brats on the way.
Bob, Looking over what WM offers seems like it may be limiting. They carry "Ocean" but only one model. Their selection of "Perceptions" is quite a bit better.
I have had numerous Perception boats over the years (all whitewater boats that took a whole lot of beating) and if they still make them...
We are quite happy with the PVC 8.5' West Marine dinghy that came with our boat. We have so far only used the oars but it will take our 2.3 or 5hp Hondas.
The two of us (latter half of 60s) have had no problem pulling it on and off the cabin top. Here are a coupe of photos of how it rides.
Wondering about extended parking at Garden Bay. It is looking like it will be cutting it close to get to the gathering if launching at the my usual, Anacortes. We would consider driving in and taking the ferry if we knew we could get extended parking for the truck and trailer, as we will be...
I recently placed a spare Danforth on a hanger off the rail on the aft starboard side. This has a couple hundred feet of rode attached ready to deploy. My primary on the bow is a Delta. I also keep a Fortress apart in a storage unit in the cockpit.
Thank you Mike and Bill, and for that matter all of you. The success and demeanor of a board only reflect its members. And from what I have met so far it is clear why this is the friendliest and most helpful board I am on.
A few things I read this morning.
Company owner stated that the boat did not have time to call a MAYDAY only to shoot off flares.
Rescuers report engine still running when bow up bobbing in the water.
LIfejackets (they had plenty onboard) are not suggested when inside a cabin as it makes it...
Well I did locate the individual pieces needed; solenoid, rocker switch, and remote totally about $500, so this may not happen before a couple of other projects.
Lewmar's FAQ states they make a kit to convert the toggle switch like I have currently to a solenoid, but I cannot locate it anywhere. I probably will give them a call next week, because I would like to have that option on Wild Blue.
Our drive down to Lake Powell was pleasantly uneventful. I guess I had allowed three days travel but did it in two, arriving a day before my reservation. That turned out to be no problem we still managed to get the coveted “C1” RV site at Wahweap.
Temps were in the 90’s and we ended up...
