A little bit of a bumpy ride between Shilshole and Edmonds this a.m. Otherwise a comfortable and enjoyable cruise back to Everett. Departed FT @ 0900, pulled out at the Everett ramp @ 1330. Thanks for arranging the gathering Fred! Good Times! jd

How about the Everett ramp? Secure enough for leaving tow-rig and trailer over night or two? jd

Great day for a spring cruise

We headed up to Olga mid morning. Not too bumpy till we got west of Blakely Shoal, then we bucked a NW'er to Olga. Disappointed that the dock wasn't in. We turned downwind and tucked in on the South side of Spencer Spit for a nice lunch in the bright sun. jd

    Fuel Fill Hose removal

Don't cut those babies, they're expensive, and they have a heavy wire coil embedded in them. On my boat, I had to remove the fuel tank to get the hose off because the hoses are very stiff i.e. very little flex. I just kind of pulled the tank out from under the end of the hose. Also, when you...

Something here does not smell right.

Don't give up, your patience will eventually pay off. There are a lot of folks here who can confirm that. And don't be afraid to do the conversion of the port-side seat to face forward (a barber chair conversion), it's pretty easy. Also, you might want to consider buying a new C-Dory or...

Buying used: repower old vs. "newer" used

I think your choice might also depend on how much fun you think it might be to refurbish a sound hull vs just buying something ready to go. I personally think the refurb route would be a blast. Plus you'd learn your boat from top to bottom and be confident about all your components. jd

    Towing Canoes

The trick to towing a canoe is to have the tow rope attached to the underside of the towed canoe. Tie a rope around the towed canoe just astern the bow seat with a small loop of rope centered under the bottom of the canoe . Tie a rope from your boat to the loop under the canoe. This way you...

Need help Getting lost fishing nets out of the sound.

You can also support, both financially and politically, the activities of the Northwest Straits Commission derelict gear removal project. http://www.derelictgear.org/ Sadly this is a problem wherever non-biodegradeable gear is used to harvest fish/shellfish. In addition to informing...

    Kicker setup on 22

It also has an electric start, so because of the cables, it would be pointless to clamp it on to prevent theft. jd

    Kicker setup on 22

    Kicker setup on 22

My kicker is mounted directly to transom on the starboard side. I had to cut off a small piece of the inside edge of the trim tab to get full range of movement on the kicker. It's a convenient mount and you won't have to lean over the transom to get at your kicker controls. If you mount the...

    Puget Sound in May

Ken, Deception Pass State Park between Anacortes & Oak Harbor would make a good base camp. And nearby Cornet Bay is a really nice place to launch from to get quickly into the San Juans and salmon fishing. Plus you'd be right by Les Lampman and his Marinaut boatworks. jd
