One more - Steering wheel with spinner

The ol "necker knob" back in the day. Had one on my '56 Chevy pu when I was a young adult. Quite handy. From the interwebs: "necker's knob (plural necker's knobs) (idiomatic, slang, dated) A knob attached to the steering wheel of an automobile, especially before the widespread availability of...

New boat missing Anchor/Windless. Help me buy a replacement?

That's just a battery on/off switch I found on Amazon. The 50amp breaker that came with the windlass is mounted in the starboard lazarette right next to the start battery.

New boat missing Anchor/Windless. Help me buy a replacement?

It's recommended you wire to the start battery, not your house battery. I "think" the reasoning is you'll have the engine running when you're using the windless so you'll have alternator juice going to the battery anyway. I recently added a Lewmar 700 Pro Fish to our C-Dory also. It's a fun...

  7. I ended up not liking the clamps I had initially used to clamp the panel to the rack so I replaced them with these beefier ones. Much better.

  8. Here it is on the entrance to the V-berth. This is where it will live most of the time.

The little box will be great for binoculars and other junk that tends to accumulate up there.

  12. I made a cover to fill the opening to the anchor locker in hopes of keeping water off the V-berth cushions when hauling in the rode/chain with the windlass.

The cleat on the back hangs over the existing fiberglass bulkhead that forms the locker. With 2 coats of epoxy covering the back water "should" just shed right off into the bottom of the locker.

  13. Here it is in place. We had some scraps of wall paper left over from when we rehabbed our guest room a year and a half ago so I glued some on the front to make it look a little nicer.

I'm going to order a rectangular hatch for the cover eventually. Once I do I'll probably ditch the wallpaper and sand/paint it.

    Mounting Downrigger Hardware Advice

Hey AT, First of all, congrats on the Cape Cruiser purchase! 1. YES! Over drill, fill with epoxy, re-drill. Although! You'll want to dig out an 1/8th - 1/4 inch of the coring before filling with epoxy. 2. NO! DO NOT USE SILICONE! Do like you are going to do with the bolt holes (dig out the...

    looking at repowering the Madrona

My' 89 cavitates pretty good in turns also. Even before I raised the engine 2 holes to get the anticavitation plate up where it should be. Nature of the beast I suppose. Throttle it back a little bit and it's fine but it would be nice to just power thru the turn.
