    Another Webasto furnace install

Well, it looks like you have the boat just about perfect now... SO, what is the next boat going to be? Anyway, all joking aside I like your Webasto install and I am going to crawl into Levitation in a few minutes and see if there is a chance to do a similar installation... I have the heat pump...

    Turning the corner?

As a working country doc I see and talk to folks from all walks of life... Michigan is in the dumpster and I do not see any light at the end of the tunnel, at least in my expected lifetime, for the young workers... The good factory jobs for high school graduates are either going or gone...

    DIY Duramax Owners

Marc, it is because you are a green skinned martian with an arm three and a half feet long with three universal joints between your fingers and your shoulder... OTOH, come to Michigan and show me how you manage that on my 08 or 011 Duramax's... I'll even video it... :)

    DIY Duramax Owners

There is a kit to cut a hole and make a removable panel on the inner fender liner... Quick and easy to do... And there is a tool that fits the filter housing that makes unscrewing it painless... Subsequent fuel filter changes only take minutes with the access panel in the fender liner and...

    Turning the corner?

People who's only motivation in life is to push a button or to wipe a table 'when told to', are going to remain unemployed... I have a fella in my practice with a bad back who(5 years ago when times were better) was told he would never work again and to go on welfare... He and his son bought a...

    22 cruiser powered with a Honda 50

Make a deal for a replacement... The used 50 will sell like hotcakes... I would, sit, shake, roll over, and beg, for a low time H-50 at a fair price (for my 1966 runabout)...

    etech 90 - so wazzup?

Being a cheap bugger and seeing you said a mere 2000 hours on the engine, what is the matter with simply hanging a fresh long block? denny-o

Sea Beagle II in Traverse Bay

The bay at Drummond went to 4 footers late Sunday so we thought we would sit it out for a day.... Another day and a half of 20-30 knots was predicted on Monday... Sitting out a total of 3 days in the marina was not tolerable, so I opted to endure the seas for the the 8 mile run back to the boat...

Sea Beagle II in Traverse Bay

It is interesting how things can work out.... With Levitation loaded, we headed North at 3pm.. What with stopping for supper and other messing about, we crossed the Big Mac into the UP of Michigan right at dark... As you exit the bridge there is a state highway department rest area so we...

I wonder how they float now?

Full length flotation tubes strapped to the hull above the water line will do it...

    Les Cheneaux Islands

Yup, the dog issue is a problem... We will be at Hessel early Saturday morning... I plan on leaving Pasta in the boat with all the ventilation open and only spending a couple of hours wandering the docks... We will be back underway before it gets too warm for the fur bag... If anyone expects...

    Posi-Lube vs Bearing Buddies

I agree those numbers look high... With the R25 on a long tow my hubs are usually 8 or 10 degrees above ambient temperature and I can definitely hold the hub without burning my fingers... 130-140 is too hot to touch...

    Posi-Lube vs Bearing Buddies

When we bought the boat last year we trailered from Virginia to Michigan... We monitored bearing temperatures and one hub ran consistently 10 degrees above the other 3... Then we parked the trailer... Getting ready to go to the UP of Michigan with the boat this Friday so I checked the hubs...

North Channel - Georgian Bay - Lake Huron

In two weeks we will be doing the St. Mary's River - Drummond Island area... I ordered a NOAA chart of the waters to compliment my Garmin Blue chip MFD just in case the magic smoke leaks out of the chart plotter... (belt and suspenders, eh) I am not likely to spend money of guide books as I...

    C-Dory Sightings

CD25 with blue trim seen anchored in a cove on the Saginaw River last night while we were going to cruise past the tall ships... I called them on channel 16 with no response... My son was unable to see a name before we went around a point and due to gunnel to gunnel boats sorrounding us I...

    Fuel Polishing

The ethanol can only hold a certain amount of water bound to itself... You cannot separate the alcohol bound water by crude mechanical means such as a water filter, but you will remove the free water, plus the rust, gunk, etc... So polishing is still worthwhile IF you have issues with the tank...

    Fuel Polishing

Ahhh jeeezzzz, someone has to be the prophet of doom here and no one else has stepped up to the plate - why does it always have to be me? (mumble, grumble)... If you are polishing gas be daggone sure the pump you are using is sealed and rated for high flammables such as gas... Now, most pumps...
