    when will Christmas need?

Every evening as the tree lights come on pour both of you an adult beverage, stand with your arm around her shoulders as she admires the tree, and enjoy having a wife who is original and interesting... If the neighbors don't like it they can move.

The Cruising Adventures of Wild Blue and crew...

The snow lacks 7 inches of reaching the door knob on the shop at 6:30 AM and snow pushed up my pants legs to my quivering knees trying to get to that door... I fired up the back hoe and began plowing the drive (3/8 mile) in the thick blackness and thicker snow blowing... Out on the road I could...

    Trailering and other things

Worst drivers I have seen - recently - has been Houston (Used to drive a semi in my younger days)... We left downtown Houston at 10AM on a Saturday morning with a brand new truck... I am trying to hold it to 55-58 in the right lane (way to the right) to at least attempt to stay within the...

    Trailering and other things

On the issue of towing with an automatic transmission - it depends on how new the truck is... The newer trucks believe that Mother (the computer) knows best and if you want something different you are going to have to fight Mother for it... Makes one long for my youth and the days of double...

    Pain free insulation solution

Hey Seabeagle, how you folks doing? I agree with the skepticism about the R values quoted... Also, their literature has some contradictions.. They say 50% to 80% sound reduction and then also say that is 1 to 3 dB... Now, having expressed my reservations I actually hope their claims are met as...

    Recirculating shower water

For salt water or lake water, Palmolive Dish Soap works like gangbusters for making suds... (the original, not any lousy 'new and improved' version) It is the only soap allowed on my boat for nigh onto 30 years... Consider a 5 gallon shower bag hung from the tower to heat in the sun and a hose...

    Marketing C-Dory Boats

I decided for a used Ranger Tug over a new C-Dory - non available at the time as I later figured out .. (doh)... In case you had not noticed we used to be one family.. Anyway, I would be pleased to have some brochures to give out for C-Dory when people tell my they love my Tug but it is just...

    Dinghy and Marina's

I agree Jim... I don't consider $2 a foot to be excessive in season... They have a fixed number of in season nights to rent out the spaces to cover the overhead for the year... Much like stores that depend on the Christmas shopping season to get them out of the red ink they run the rest of the...

    New C-dorys built?

At this point on time there is a list of boat factorys (brands) that have gone out of business in the past 4 years - the list is more than 250 USA boat makers gone down the tubes... Marc gets frustrated because he is between a rock and a hard place - and the rock is rolling towards him...

    New C-dorys built?

From what I can see hull numbers are mostly meaningless if you are attempting to discern the number of units built (except to the factory)... Ranger Tug hull numbering system uses a system akin to divining the intentions of the gods from goat entrails...

    Dinghy and Marina's

I just got off the phone with three marinas in South FLorida for later this month... The going transient fee in season seems to be 2 bucks a foot per night... Out of three I polled, one would not allow our dog (15 pounds and does not bark).. None would allow me to do my own launching and...

    Great Loop Question

For a fella in a shallow draft boat with an OB that can be partly raised, allowing very shallow water operation, I would not spend a penny on paper charts... My advice would be different if you were conning a 5 foot draft, 20 ton boat... With a boat like that you need to know where the...

    Winter Projects

A couple of years back I built a pair of 7.5 foot rowing dingys for the grand kids... The plans were better than you describe but the dingy sides, when cut using his paper template, were all wrong... I did have a discussion with him through the selling agent and he said he found I was right...

Very Bad Boating Incident in Delray Beach, FL

I have written about this in the past... Having lunch at a river side cafe we admired a Classic Chris Craft moored next to our table... Approx. 15 minutes after we left the Chris Craft exploded upon being started killing the couple on board and blew flaming gasoline across the table area where...

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We were off to bed by 10PM so were not on here to answer your Happy New Year greetings... Up at 5:30 this AM (usual time)... Anyway - HAPPY NEW YEAR...

Top 11 USCG 2010 rescue videos

The USCG has been an exemplary "service" organization for generations... During much of my lifetime they have been the one government enforcement organization that everyone admired and trusted... Unfortunately, the ill advised war on drugs has these young coasties stopping boats at random and...

    need fish finder advice.

Jeez, as a kid I found that tossing a few worms on the water and chanting, "here fishey, fishey, fishey." worked for me... Dunno why you would want to spend money...

    Anchor light question...

Jeff at Marinebeam has the Festoon style LED bulbs in both pointed and dimpled end models... As Bob pointed out lots of boats do not meet USCG regs - which to my knowledge has not caused a melt down of the insurance companies - and the owners would be well advised to install new light fixtures...
