    Camping on our C-Dory

Bringing back an old thread but the more I go lake boating/overnight on the water the more I think about this. I have discharged grey water from the sink while in the ocean but not any lakes because I was unsure. Is their more specific resource to which lakes allow and ban this type of grey...

    Launching in Low water levels

Hi all, I'm going up to Eagle Lake in Lassen forest for my first time. Obviously a huge benefit of the C-Dory in this situation is the Draft, specs say 7". With that being said Eagle Lake is Very low as many lakes are with the drought. I don't think I have anything to worry about reading...

    led anchor light

+1 I bought the same Anchor bulb from marine beam along with LED replacements for all my fixtures in the boat. Excellent customer service, good product. The girlfriend was first concerned about the cabin lights being a cold glow as many LED's are but we are both very happy with all the...

    Bait tank install

Ok! It looks like I found the solution. I'm not sure why I didn't see this before. Kodiak sells "quick disconnect mounting pads" that permanently are attached to cockpit floor and set almost flush. The L brackets then attach to these mounting pads. It is item #C on the below link...

    Bait tank install

Thanks for the replies Roger, Those earlier postings had a lot of good ideas and I"m on the same page as you with the concern of the slipping with the "grip" pads as well as the comment of water setting in the recesses when the bait tank is not in place. I like the barrel threads Bob...

    Bait tank install

I still can't find a solution to securing the tank. It looks like the 4 L brackets that it came with would be the best solution. To aviod a tripping/stubbing toe hazard when tank is not in place I'm thinking there has to be a way to tap or find some sort of nut to epoxy in place on the cockpit...

    Bait tank install

Thanks for the comments. I did consider the weight factor. Since my permatrims have been installed I have been extremely happy with my trim performance on the boat. I've had over that weight in the back with people just to test out performace and it did great. I was considering trim tabs but...

    Bait tank install

I noticed I have a thru-hull fitting plumbed to my portside lazarette for a drain. I will see if this 1/2" fitting will keep up with the live well pump. I do not need a drain in that lazarette as I use it for dry storage.

    Bait tank install

I found a deal on a Kodiak 22gal bait tank I couldn't pass up. It came with everything needed for install but only problem is the tank is about 6 to 8 inches short for draining in the splashwell. My first consideration was screwing a few pieces of starboard together but I"m thinking there has...

    Water entering through bilge discharge

Thanks for the replies. That will be an easy fix to a very annoying problem.

    Water entering through bilge discharge

On my last few trips in the boat (22 cruiser) I have had an annoying amount of water enter the cockpit. This is mainly when drift fishing or in rougher water where swells reach about the discharge of the bilge pump closer to the front of the boat. It is not a problem on the rear bilge as the...

    permatrim questions

I just installed Permatrims on Yamaha twin 40's onmy 22 cruiser and will be going out this Thursday. I will report back on how they perform, but I've done research and heard great things about them. Easy install.

twin yamaha 40's oil in fuel

Yes I agree. I was trying to not be wasteful and use instead of disposing. Never will do that again. Because of the smoke and the smell off the engines I'm certain it is a type of oil. I"m looking into carb cleaning and replacing the jets just trying to figure out which jets to go with...

twin yamaha 40's oil in fuel

Brent, I have considered seafoam and some people have miracle stories with the stuff. I do believe it works, but with this application I feel I would risk the seafoam doing its job but then potentially clogging the jets with everything it has cleaned from the system. If I were to do it I...

twin yamaha 40's oil in fuel

Joel, I agree the carbed Yami 40's are notorious for the carb issues. Jets are way too lean. If ran often (multiple times a week) they do great but if they sit for any time at all they do clog. The ethanol in the fuel doesn't help either. I have heard the re jetting solution and will...

twin yamaha 40's oil in fuel

SeaWolf, I think you hit the nail on the head with it being hypoid gear oil. Not sure if this changes any actions that I will take but its probably going to lengthen the process of burning it all off. I"m going to pull a plug tomorrow and decide my plan of action from there. I"ve already...

twin yamaha 40's oil in fuel

I have twin yamaha 40s . 2003 carbuerated outboards. When I bought the boat I found a few different bottles of fuel stabilizers stored in the lazarette. A few weeks ago I finished off a bottle of yamalube fuel stabilizer- a little over the recommended dose but no big deal to me I have done...

    Power Trailer Dolly

I have had the trailer Valet for about 2 years now. Transfered it from my old 19ft Starcraft fiberglass runabout to the 22 Cruiser when I bought. It is cheaply made, rusts, but gets the job done. I have replaced a lot of the hardware with Stainless and I grease it and hit with corrosion x...
